    MUMBAI: The fight between the two actors – Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif – goes a long way back. With earlier Deepika bagging Happy New Year from Katrina, there are rumours that the Chennai Express star has ousted Jab Tak Hai Jaan babe from the sequel of Dostana as well.

     

    The Tarun Mansukhani’s Dostana 2 will star John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan. However, as per the earlier rumours, Katrina was to step into Priynaka Chopra’s shoes for the sequel. But DP’s successful run at the box-office this year has made her a hot favourite among directors and producers.

    MUMBAI: Who can forget the Kareema of Dekh bhai Dekh. The TV actor Deven Bhojani became to household name with his impeccable performaces in Baa Bahoo Aur Baby, Office Office etc. The actor who turned director with his serial Sarabhai vs Sarabhai is all set to enter Bollywood.

    According to reports, Vipul Shah has roped in Bhojani to direct his next, which is a romantic comedy. The makers of film are now looking out for actors as soon as the script is complete.

    Interestingly, it was Vipul who had given Bhojani his first big role in his serial Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka and since then the two have always been good friends.

    Second LIFF to be held from 13 to 15 September

    NEW DELHI: The Second Ladakh International Film Festival (LIFF), which was postponed due to the massive human tragedy in Uttarakhand caused by floods and landslide, is now being held in September.

    Although Leh had remained unaffected by the tragedy, the Festival slated for early July had been postponed in solidarity, LIFF Festival Director Melwyn Williams Chirayath told indiantelevision.com.

    The Festival will now be held from 13 to 15 September in Leh, Ladakh. Chirayath said the festival details and programme schedule remain the same as previously decided.

    The festival will be inaugurated by Jammu & Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah.

    Earlier, it had been announced that a total of 115 films from 15 countries will be screened at the Festival. The films will be screened in five screens in Leh, according to Chirayath.

    The jury for LIFF 2013 will be headed by well known actor/director Aparna Sen while members are Paul Smaczny (Emmy winner), Mathew Robbins (Palm d’Or), Vimukhti Jayasundara (Palm d’Or), Alireza Shahrokhi (Iran) & Teri McLuhan (Canada).

    In addition, there will be a retrospective on lyricist-filmmaker Gulzaar by director/producer Vishal Bharadwaj who had got his first major break in the former’s Maachis.

    There is a section celebrating women through some of the finest women oriented films made in India.

    A major highlight is the green carpet premiere at LIFF 2013 of Teri Mc Luhan’s documentary Frontier Gandhi, on the forgotten freedom fighter, nationalist and peace advocate Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan. There will also be a special children’s section curated by Amole Gupte, Chairperson of the Children’s Film Society, India, which will feature six children’s films.

    MUMBAI: This was second week in running that the audience had a choice of sex film in BA Pass. The film about a nymphomaniac married woman seducing a teenage boy collected Rs 3.85 crore for its opening weekend with most of it coming from single screens in B class centres.

    Rabba Main Kya Karoon starring Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Akash Chopra and Riya Sen struggled to sustain through the weekend.

    Chor Chor Super Chor starring Beepak Dobriyal, a reasonable entertainer, failed to draw the audience.

    Bajatey Raho failed to cash in on its moderate face value and poor oppositions. The film managed to collect 6.5 crore for its first week.

    Issaq could not find many takers outside of UP; the film managed a meagre 3.6 crore in its first week.

    Nashaa, having opened poor, dropped further during the week to end its first week run with 3.5 crore.

    Luv U Soniyo just about managed to cross two crore rupees mark in its first week.

    Ramaiya Vastavaiya collected Rs 4.35 crore in its second week to take its two week total to Rs 24.65 crore.

    Despite its reasonable price tag, D-Day will prove a loser; the film collected Rs 3.5 crore in its second week to take its two week tally to Rs 18 crore.

    Bhaag Milkha Bhaag maintains strong collections in its third week. The film collects Rs 16.1 crore to take its three week tally to Rs 94.25 crore.

    Dimple Kapadia signs Homi Adajania’s next

    MUMBAI: Dimple Kapadia is set to return on the big screen again post the demise of husband and superstar Rajesh Khanna. She was last seen in Cocktail which starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty in lead roles.

    It is learnt that Kapadia has signed on for Homi Adajania’s film Finding Fanny Fernandes.

    The film which is said to be a Konkani English short film will also feature Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah. As for Dimple’s role in the film, she will be seen playing a Goan.

    Backed yet again by Saif and Dinesh Vijayan’s Illumanati Films, Finding Fanny Fernandes is scheduled to go on floors around October.

    Talking about other films to his kitty, Homi Adajania came to attention for directing and co-writing Being Cyrus (2005), which was an off-beat English-Language psychological drama film.
