The film’s story takes place during the riots that followed the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1984. The story revolves around a school picnic where a teacher is trying to protect Kush, the only Sikh child in the group from the violence raging around them.

The 86th Academy Awards nominations will be announced on 16 January while the Oscar ceremony will take place on 2 March, 2014 at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood and Highland Center.

  • Somethings fishy!

    Somethings fishy!

MUMBAI: Viacom18 Motion Pictures brings to its audiences a rip roaring comedy What The Fish, this December, set in a Delhi house which is left empty apart from Mishti the fish when ‘Masi’ (the evergreen Dimple Kapadia) goes on a trip, leaving it to the niece. Starting with a crazy party the house becomes a center for some hilarious activity. Manu Rishi, Manjot Singh and Anand Tewari join the act with the unique comic timing.

Directed by Gurmmeet Singh the film is co-produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, Lightform Pictures Production and presented by Tipping Point Films.

Known for creating a buzz with their unique and innovative ways to promote a film, the producers have a lot of context to do so with this particular venture taking a hint from some of the bizarre items which make an appearance in the movie (condoms, a joint, mardangi ki goliyaan to name a few).

Viacom 18 Motion Pictures has sent across a fish-bowl package to various trade organisations, media houses, celebrities, twitter/digital influencers and radio jockeys; and this doesn’t end here – even Mumbai with its rickshaw-walla’s, and not to forget the machliwali’s and various commoners have been plastered with the curious case of a fancy fish bowl literally making the city go – What The Fish!

“WTF is the most hilarious comedy that you are going to see in a while. The sheer craziness of the happenings in the film though entirely situational makes it unmissable. The movie demanded that we go beyond the cliché and create some ‘comic curiosity ‘ to brace audiences,” said Viacom18 Motion Pictures head of marketing & operations Rudrarup Datta.

What The Fish is set for release on 13 December.

  • Sonakshis impromptu idea for R Rajkumar

Sonakshis impromptu idea for R Rajkumar

MUMBAI: The shoot of the song, Dhoka Dhadi for the film R…Rajkumar at Khai Island in Phuket turned out to be quite challenging for the cast and crew of the film.

A sudden change in the weather spoiled the mood of the shoot. While everyone had to face scorching heat, Sonakshi Sinha came up with an impromptu idea. She got inside the ocean and suggested choreographer Bosco to shoot the scene in the water. And though everyone had their reservations initially, Sonakshi insisted that it would make for a great shot. She was able to convince director Prabhu Deva, Bosco and even co-star Shahid Kapoor.

Sonakshi Sinha says that the thought of sun sand and sea really charged her up initially. “But as we started shooting at the location, it was scorching. Trying to look pretty in a saree in that kind of heat is no easy task and thus when I couldn’t take it anymore, I just jumped into the water to cool off and asked Bosco to shoot us in there!”

The movie scheduled to release on 6 December, 2013.

Katrina ready to sizzle with multiple projects

MUMBAI: She has created waves on-screen every time with her performance. Katrina Kaif, who has been voted the hottest actress four years in a row, is set to rule again with her upcoming release Dhoom 3.

Her last release Jab Tak Hai Jaan was one of the biggest successes of the year. Now, the actress is set to sizzle in Dhoom 3. The title song Dhoom Machale, the teaser of which was released recently, is already trending.

She has temperatures soaring with the song that is glamorously picturised on the actress. Sporting edgy couture be it the neon pink romper, skimming corsets and bustiers and knee high boots, Katrina is looking her best.

That’s not all, the actress also has a string of back to back releases in the coming year, including the action-romance Bang Bang with Hrithik Roshan, Kabir Khan’s gritty drama Phantom with Saif Ali Khan and Fitoor, a timeless love story.

  • Ram-Leela gets a lukewarm response, Krissh 3 continues to woo audience at BO

Ram-Leela gets a lukewarm response, Krissh 3 continues to woo audience at BO

MUMBAI: Alexandra Cinema near Mumbai Central station had a patronage of English movie lovers who did not know English nor was it an era of dubbing English movies. To attract the audience, the cinema management gave all films it released its own version of Hindi titles. Mara Maari Chumma Chati was the title given to the 1966 movie Kiss Kiss Kill Kill (the other examples are Hurr Hurr Darwaza Khula for Horror Of Dracula; Kabhi Garam Garam Kabhi Naram Naram for Blow Hot, Blow Cold). That Mara Maari….. aptly describes Ram-Leela for that is what it is all about; there is no third dimension to the film.

The film released under protests and threats not even opening at some major centres of Gujarat on day one. While the film found an indifferent response at single screens, on the strength of its business at multiplexes, the film has collected a little over Rs 48 crore for its opening weekend. Monday, however, saw a noticeable drop to 50 per cent of its first Saturday business. It is a high priced product and this drop does not augur well for the film.

Rajjo with its unimpressive storyline went unnoticed and failed to find any takers.
Krrish 3 has done a decent second week with no real opposition to share the box office; especially in its second weekend, the collections tapering down thereafter. It collected Rs 43.3 crore taking its two week total to Rs 163.3 crore.

Satya 2 has fared poorly. The film has collected Rs 1.8 crore in its first week.

Soha dons a Bikini in Mr. Joe B Carvalho

MUMBAI: It seems actor Soha Ali Khan is ready shed her inhibitions. The actor, in her nine-year-old career in the film industry, has mostly been seen in a girl-next-door kind of roles. Now, she is all set to go glamorous on-screen. The actor will be seen wearing a bikini for the first time in her upcoming Mr. Joe B Carvalho that stars Arshad Warsi and Javed Jaffery.

Soha’s mother veteran actress Sharmila Tagore was one of the first actors to don a two piece in An Evening in Paris, but what took her so long to go bold? “I haven’t been in a pool before in any of my films so there was never a need to wear a swimsuit. I was given the choice between a swimsuit and a bikini and I chose to wear a blue bikini from my personal collection..!!  I love the water and swim a lot, so I was not uncomfortable doing the shot although it was a first for me and so I was a bit nervous about the aesthetics of it and was insistent it should not be crass or crude but look effortless and natural. Thanks to my director Samir (Tewari) as that is what we have got!!”

Soha had requested Samir if she could wear a two-piece from her personal collection and within no time Soha sat down with her stylist and zeroed down the beautiful blue bikini, blue being her favorite colour!!
