    Percept restructures; gets Shiv Sethuraman as CEO

    MUMBAI: Percept has gone ahead to consolidate its diverse strategic business units to a single holistic entity called Percept One. The agency currently stands at having revenues of worth Rs 1,250 million. Along with this the agency has also appointed Shiv Sethuraman as CEO of Percept One, with effect from 14 July, 2014.

     

    He will be responsible for leading business development and integration of all marketing communication (marcom) services, creating opportunities for synergy within and across the marcom businesses of the Percept group, attaining profitability and revenue growth organically and inorganically, as also paving the roadmap for the overall marcom business of the Percept group. Sethuraman has a challenging mandate of driving a 30 per cent year-on-year growth with a target of achieving revenues worth Rs 2,750 million by 2017.

     

    Previously, the marketing communications services business of Percept spanned three separate verticals, namely creative services, media services and other marcom services. The creative services vertical encompassed advertising, brand marketing consultancy and communications, corporate identity, strategy, creative, design and packaging and integrated marketing communication consultancy services.

     

    The media services vertical spanned media planning and buying, out-of-home media, retail media, rural media and digital media. The third vertical included a host of services including experiential marketing, sports management and marketing, incentives, conferences and exhibitions management, event management and marketing, celebrity endorsements and talent management, entertainment branding and marketing, branded entertainment, brand activations and promotions, public and media relations and social media marketing.

     

    Sethuraman has had a remarkable two decade long career in the media and communications domain. He has handled dynamic portfolios spanning global brand development and business acquisition and served as country head in Europe and also in India.

     

    Prior to joining Percept, Sethuraman was associated with TBWA, India in the role of CEO and personally led the Nissan, Adidas and infrastructure/realty cluster within the agency. He kick-started his advertising career with Ogilvy where he cut his teeth on many of the key clients of the agency such as Cadbury, Castrol, Unilever and Shell amongst others. He moved to Ogilvy, Paris in 2001 as global business director and was later elevated to the position of MD, Ogilvy & Mather, Paris where he acquired large global and regional accounts such as Louis Vuitton, Coca Cola – Europe and Europcar and also managed several businesses including IBM, Unilever and Nestle.

He joins Shalimar Paints from Ingersoll Rand, an industrial technology company where he was the Director for Residential Solutions business, responsible for establishing the Trane brand of air-conditioners in India. He has a proven track record of successfully leading sales, distribution, channel management and marketing in his previous roles with MIRC Electronics, BenQ India, Samsung, Blue Star, LG and others.

     

    A graduate in Physics from Pune University, Shankar is passionate about technology. He holds a post graduate diploma in marketing from Institute for Social Sciences and Research, Vellore, and has completed a one-year executive program on strategic management from IIM Calcutta.

    MUMBAI: Cheil Worldwide SW Asia [Cheil India] has bolstered its creative department with the appointment of seven new members.

     

    The names include Jayant Mathew, Varun Goswami, Joy Sen Gupta, Prashant Sharma, Navajyoti Pegu (Oyio), Prasanth G and Ankur Kalita.

Both Varun Goswami and Joy Sen Gupta will be working as a team as will be the case with the duo- Prashant Sharma, and Navajyoti Pegu (Oyio). Prasanth G will be working on brand Samsung for SAARC and Ankur Kalita will report to Navin Theeng.

     

    Jayant Mathew moves from Publicis where he was creative director and will now take charge as group creative director – art.

     

    Varun Goswami and Joy Sen Gupta, both join from Lowe Delhi where they were unit creative directors. Goswami’s will join sr creative director –copy while Gupta is the new senior creative director –art.

     

    Prashant Sharma joins from McCann World Group where he was creative director- art and will join in as senior creative director-art. Similarly, Navajyoti Pegu (Oyio) will be joining as senior creative director- copy who was earlier with McCann World Group.

     

    Prasanth G joins from JWT and will be the new sr creative director-art.

     

    Ankur Kalita has moved from McCann World Group, where he was creative leader at their New Delhi office.  His current designation will be creative director – copy.

    MUMBAI: Omnicom Group has a new leader. The media agency has appointed Troy Ruhanen as president and CEO of TBWA Worldwide. Ruhanen succeeds Tom Carroll who will continue as chairman of TBWA Group. Jean-Marie Dru will continue to serve as TBWA Agency Network chairman.

In that role, he managed BBDO’s operations in North and South America including the Proximity direct, digital and CRM agency network. Previous posts at BBDO include deputy chairman, North America and managing director, New York.

    MUMBAI: SBI Life Insurance country head – emerging business Chandramohan Mehra has decided to quit after his eight years of association with the company.

     

    While Mehra was unavailable for comment, sources confirm that he is set to join the entertainment industry in the coming weeks.

     

    Mehra led the brand and communication initiatives, before being elevated to country head – emerging business last year. Amongst the multiple popular marketing campaigns he drove, were ‘First-of-its-kind customer education programme, ‘Future Guaranteed’, ‘Old Boy Cricket’ and ‘Jab Hum Honge Saath Saal Ke’. He played an instrumental role in variety of assignments including product launches, social media, events, lead generation, customer research, cross sell, analytics, multi-lingual website, PR and internal communication.

     

    In his recent role at SBI Life, Mehra spearheaded the creation of online business and cross sell vertical. The new business premium generated through online vertical grew rapidly to five fold, with SBI Life gaining a lead position in digital business, in recent months. 

     

    Mehra is an MBA from Insead, France and a BITS Pilani alumnus. His earlier assignments were with Kotak and FCB Ulka where he managed HDFC Bank and Tata Motors brand.

    MUMBAI: The largest media group in Indonesia, Havas Media Group, has appointed Pranay Shah Singh as head of strategy for Indonesia.

     

    In his new role, Singh will be responsible for strengthening the strategic output on key clients including, XL Axiata, Danone, AXA, LG Electronics and Kakao Talk. He will also work closely with account leads, innovation and new business teams to drive the adoption of group’s proprietary – meaningful brands research and meaningful connections planning process that helps brands connect with people and create shared value for brands and consumers.

     

    He will report jointly to Havas Media Group APAC chief strategy officer SK Biswas and Havas Media Group Indonesia CEO Riadi Sugihtani.

     

    Biswas said, “In addition to his media expertise, Pranay brings with him a lateral thinking approach to consumer insights, branding and business issues that connects well with the Meaningful Brands approach at Havas Media Group.     Singh joins the agency with ten years of experience in the dynamic Indian media industry, where he developed an expertise in strategic planning, media research, consulting and content marketing, working with multinational media agencies and boutique consulting. His last stint was with ZenithOptimedia India, where he led communications planning for FMCG companies like Reckitt Benckiser and Nestle. His involvement in social initiatives like Dhriti and recognition as a rising media star in India by Brand Equity magazine, are testament to his interest in the evolution of communications, and how it impacts society and culture.

    MUMBAI: Close on the heels of the announcement of RajDeepak Das joining the Leo Burnett Group as chief creative officer comes new of Prajato Guha Thakurta and Sachin Kamble joining the agency.

     

    The two will join in as associate executive creative directors. Thakurta and Kamble will be based at the head office in Mumbai and will work closely with RajDeepak.

    Telenor Broadcasting appoints Ragnar Karhus as CEO

    NEW DELHI: Telecom service provider Telenor has appointed Ragnar Karhus as the new chief executive officer (CEO) of Telenor Broadcast Holding and Canal Digital.

     

    Karhus replaces Patrik Hofbauer, who was recently appointed as the CEO of Telenor Sweden.

     

    Telenor said Karhus, who comes from the position of senior vice president in Telenor Group Industrial Development, joined Telenor in 2000 and has held the position as CFO in several Telenor companies and was the deputy CEO of the Nordic region.

     

    From 2007 to 2011, he served as CEO of Telenor Norway.
