    FreeCharge appoints Sudeep Tandon as chief business officer

    MUMBAI: Online platform FreeCharge has roped in Sudeep Tandon as its chief business officer to further strengthen its senior leadership team. 

     

    Based out of Mumbai, Tandon will closely work with FreeCharge CEO and co-founder Kunal Shah. 

     

    Tandon’s appointment will enhance the corporate strategy and strategic alliances of the company.

     

    Shah said, “FreeCharge is at an exciting stage post acquisition by Snapdeal and we are expanding management bandwidth to reach to next level. Tandon was key advisor during early days of FreeCharge and has deep understanding about the brand’s vision. His process-orientated approach and continuous push for innovation will strengthen our execution. I believe Tandon’s capabilities will help us leap ahead and bolster our vision.”

     

    Tandon comes with over eight years of experience in telecom, technology strategy, product and business development. He has been associated with brands like Samsung, Cisco and Cartesian in the past. 

     

    Prior to FreeCharge, Tandon was an engagement manager at Cartesian, a telecom, media and technology (TMT) focused strategy consulting firm. At Cartesian, Tandon led several client engagements with a particular focus on solving strategic challenges for mobile network operators globally.

    MUMBAI: Rose Huskey has joined the Maxus regional team as Maxus APAC client leadership head.

     

    Prior to this, Huskey spent four years as the Maxus Vietnam managing director.

     

    Based out of Singapore, Huskey will be responsible for ensuring that the client’s experience is world class, integrated product and thinking into brand marketing as its leans into change in the ever evolving world.

     

    Huskey is an advertising executive with 18 years of experience across agencies, specializing in developing solutions to client’s challenges and bringing them to life in the online and offline world. Before joining Maxus, GroupM Huskey held positions at OMD in Vancouver, Canada and Future Shop where she was responsible for conceiving, managing and developing advertising and communication solutions.

    MUMBAI: Modular home furnishing solutions provider HomeLane.com has roped in Naveen Raman as its associate vice president – marketing.

     

    The company is looking at intensifying its marketing operations as it gears up for growth and pan-India expansion, with the signing up of Mindshare as its media buying agency. Raman will be driving the company’s overall marketing initiatives.

     

    HomeLane currently offers its services in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi, Pune and Mumbai. The company plans to expand its operations to 10 more cities, including Delhi/NCR in the coming months.

    Omnicom Malaysia names OMD India’s Shyam Ravishankar as digital head

    MUMBAI: Omnicom Media Group Malaysia has appointed Shyam Ravishankar as head of digital.

     

    Ravishankar joins Omnicom Media Group Malaysia from OMD India where he was the business director in charge of digital and mobility services.

     

    In his new role, Ravishankar will be working on key accounts across OMD and PHD to drive adoption of digital technology and create integrated marketing experiences.

     

    He will report to Omnicom Media Group, Malaysia CEO Andreas Vogiatzakis and his position is effective immediately.

     

    A digital strategist with over 13 years of experience and a specialist in data-driven brand building strategies, Ravishankar has knowledge across key areas such as performance marketing, SEO, social media and digital analytics to name a few. Over the course of his career, he has worked on a plethora of industries such as technology, education, travel, real estate and financial services.

     

    Vogiatzakis said, “Shyam is a digital evangelist, and a great addition to the team. He is an economics and philosophy graduate from the University of Western Ontario.

    Twitter India ropes in Viral Jani to head TV affairs

    MUMBAI: Twitter India has appointed Viral Jani as head of TV partnerships. He will be based at the company’s Mumbai office. As part of his new role, Jani will work closely with the complete TV ecosystem of broadcasters, production houses and audience measurement systems to make Twitter the second screen to TV in India.

     

    His main responsibility will be to forge strategic partnerships with broadcasters to help channels amplify their message, drive more viewers, and generate more user engagement with their content on Twitter. 

     

    Jani aims to lead this social TV movement in India by bringing the best content from TV channels to Twitter for live, public conversations, while enabling Twitter as an incredible video and visual-driven storytelling platform to drive tune-in and audience engagement for TV channels.

     

    Moving forward, Jani is keen to position Twitter as the largest virtual couch for viewing TV content in India, and facilitate broadcasters to use the full suite of Twitter’s products such as Twitter native video, Twitter Amplify, Vine, Periscope, SnappyTV and TV analytics.

    MUMBAI: Hike messenger is beefing up its leadership team and has roped in Vidur Vyas as VP of marketing and Sumit Mehra as studio head. 

     

    While Vyas will be spearheading Hike’s marketing initiatives, brand positioning and strategic alliances; Mehra will be responsible for driving game strategy, development and production. The duo will be reporting to Hike CEO and founder Kavin Mittal.

    MUMBAI: ShopClues has appointed Raunak Raheja and Nitin Sharma as category management directors.

     

    While Raheja’s focus at ShopClues will be on scaling up the wholesale marketplace initiative, Sharma will be helming the electronics category.

     

    Raheja will be overseeing the key properties of ShopClues including the neighbourhood store initiative and cross border trade. Heading the wholesale marketplace initiative, he will also be planning the strategic roadmap for B2B channels and driving the refurbished products supply.

    Raheja is an e-commerce and retail professional with over 9 years of work experience in marketplace & e-retailing models. He has diverse experience and has also worked with e-commerce companies like eBay, HomeShop18 and Ibibio Web.

    Lowe Lintas names Shayondeep Pal as Delhi creative head

    MUMBAI: Lowe Lintas has named executive creative director Shayondeep Pal as its creative head in Delhi. Pal takes over from Shriram Iyer, who was recently named Mullen Lintas NCD. 

     

    Pal will report to Lowe Lintas chief creative officer Arun Iyer.

     

    Pal has been part of the creative team in Delhi for more than six years and is involved in the creative execution of a number of campaigns for clients in the region like OLX, Micromax, Hindustan Times, Maruti Suzuki, Google and Pernod Ricard.

     

    Iyer said, “Delhi has been surging ahead with creative offerings that are top-notch and Shayondeep Pal has had an integral role to play in its success. With a creative firepower that’s palpable and the thirst to do more, I cannot wait to see what he has in store to drive the office in Delhi. I wish him the best in his new role at the agency.”

     

    Pal has been the creative lead on Micromax for the last four years and has worked on campaigns like Sliver 5 with Hugh Jackman, Qube, Canvas HD and Canvas 2. In fact, he has also directed a few commercials for Micromax. 

     

    He has also worked on the Hindustan Times campaign ‘You Read, They Learn,’ which went on to win an award at Cannes Lions in 2013.

    Dentsu Creative Impact strengthens team with several senior level hires

    MUMBAI: Dentsu Creative Impact, creative division of Dentsu Aegis Network, has made a host of new talent acquisitions.

    The beefing up of the team has happened across functions, ranging from strategic planning to account management and creative. The appointments come in the wake of the recent client wins such as Maruti Suzuki, Carlsberg and a set of soon-to-be announced brands.

    In the creative function, the agency has roped in Sundar Iyer as copy ECD. Iyer will form the creative leadership team along with ECD Sumitra Sengupta and Art ECD Deepak Singh, whose appointment was announced a few months back. Both Iyer and Sengupta join in after their recent stints at JWT.

    On his new role and expectations, Iyer said, “Great work can only come from collaboration, which seems to be inherent to the way this agency functions. It’s a place that doesn’t have to unlearn to be ready.”
