  • Dentsu Webchutney ropes in Nishi Kant as EVP & Mumbai head

    MUMBAI: Dentsu Webchutney, a digital agency from the Dentsu Aegis Network, has appointed Nishi Kant as EVP & Branch Head- Mumbai. Kant will lead the charge for the agency’s Mumbai office. He will be reporting to Dentsu Webchutney co-founder & CEO Sidharth Rao.

    This is Nishi’s second stint at Webchutney; the first one lasting almost 10 years in 2014. During his 2 year hiatus from Webchutney, Kant worked with a couple of start-ups in Healthcare and e-commerce space, specializing in both strategy as well as design.

    Commenting on his second innings, Kant said, “I grew up with Webchutney and have seen it evolve from a start-up into an institution. It was a refreshing break to go back to school and work with start-ups again, but now it’s time to come back home. I’m excited to lead a team that comprises of some of the best advertising talent in the country.”

    Expressing his delight, Sidharth Rao said, “It’s fantastic to have Nishi back. I’m looking forward to his maverick outlook driving infectious ideas which resonate with the Webchutney culture, and in the process, steer dramatic business growth.”

    Kant will lead efforts across all brands handled out of the Mumbai office, like HDFC, Reliance Retail, Redbull, KTM and Platinum Evara.

    MUMBAI: Taproot Dentsu, the creative and communication agency from Dentsu Aegis Network, has strengthened its planning prowess with the appointment of Farah Bashir as Vice President, Strategic Planning. She will be based out of Taproot Dentsu’s Gurgaon office, and will work closely with Anand Murty – head of planning at Taproot Dentsu, to ensure that stellar creative and deep insightful thinking go hand-in-hand to create the best work possible for all clients.

    Prior to joining Taproot Dentsu, Farah was the general manager – planning at Cheil India, where she helped lead the Insights division.

    Armed with more than 13 years of experience, Farah has worked as a journalist with Reuters, as a marketing professional with Unilever Asia (across India, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and Brazil), as a research analyst with Quantum Market Research and as a strategic planner with DDB Mudra and Lowe Lintas. She has worked on various brands including Samsung, Wills Lifestyle, OLX, Hindustan Times, Volini, Revital, Reckitt Benckiser, NDTV, Hindustan Times, MTS, Microsoft, Singapore Health Promotion Board (HPB), Singtel, Zopper, Twinings, Cisco, GPI and Dabur.

    MUMBAI: Bhaskar Thakur, who left J. Walter Thomson (JWT) to join OYO Rooms as head of brand strategy, has returned to JWT Malaysia as the head of strategic planning. He will lead the strategic planning for brands such as Nestle and Shell.

    JWT Malaysia recently appointed Saurabh Saksena as the managing director.

    Thakur has over 13 years of experience in creating categories, building brands and growing business across FMCG, financial services and technology brands along with leading brand marketing.

    Thakur had joined OYO Rooms in October 2015. Earlier, he was the AVP and strategic planning director for JWT in Gurgaon. He had handled strategy for PepsiCo – Slice, Tropicana, Mountain Dew & Gatorage, Nestle, Kitkat, Munch, Milkybar, Alpino, and GSK. He has also worked in the strategic departments of Euro RSCG, Ogilvy & Mather and Publicis.

    MUMBAI: Ogilvy & Mather has appointed Jason Hill as the chief strategy officer in Singapore. The role has been newly created, and will see Hill reporting to Chris Riley, Ogilvy & Mather Singapore group chairman.

    Hill will undertake responsibilities in brand planning, customer engagement, channel, data analytics and social strategy.

    Hill has been with the agency for a decade, and was previously head of consulting & data analytics in Singapore. Prior to his new role, Hill led teams of strategy and data specialists to combine customer insights and data analytics.

    He also spent eight years in Australia as head of strategy at OgilvyOne Sydney, leading the strategic development of creative campaigns, CRM programs and strategic consulting projects. According to the agency, Hill has over two decades of strategic marketing experience in senior agency, client and consulting roles.

    Riley said that Hill would be instrumental in relentlessly applying different combinations of strategic skills from within the group to enhance creative solutions and help clients to unlock value from their customers and brands.

    Scripps Networks Head of International Lifestyle Channels Derek Chang said that Leena was a consummate professional and widely respected for her deep knowledge of the region and the industry. Her strategic vision, combined with her operational expertise, would be critical to further expand Scripps business across the region.

    Singarajah joined Scripps Networks in 2014 as Head of Distribution and Ad Sales, Asia-Pacific, responsible for developing strategies to continue growing distribution and building our regional and local ad sales business. Since joining, Singarajah has overseen the expansion of HGTV in the region and considerably strengthened the regional and local ad sales businesses.
