    Zomato appoints Mohit Gupta as CEO of food delivery

    MUMBAI: Restaurants Discovery and Online food ordering app, Zomato, yesterday appointed Mohit Gupta as CEO for its food delivery business.

    Zomato has been working on strengthening its leadership team and aims at a long-term vision of “better food for more people”. The company is also experimenting with products that solve for affordability, accessibility, assortment and quality of food for the users, within India as well as globally.

    “We’re thrilled to have Mohit join our team – he is one of the few internet industry veterans who has helped build a formidable transactions business in India. He’s a widely respected leader, and we’re excited to learn from him, and further build our rapidly growing food delivery business with him,” said Zomato founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal as quoted by DNA.

    Gupta, who has about 20 years of experience joined MakeMyTrip in 2008 and worked in several senior positions in the company. As the chief operating officer he was responsible for the business delivery, growth and profitability of the entire online business for Makemytrip India. In between, he also worked with e-commerce website like Zovi.com for one year. Before joining Zovi.com, he worked with PepsiCo for about seven years where he last served as vice president marketing.

    He holds an MBA degree from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and has studied mechanical engineering from Sardar Patel University.

    MUMBAI: To showcase its differentiated and innovative postpaid proposition, Vodafone India has roped in chess grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand to promote Vodafone Red.

    Under the Red bouquet, Vodafone recently introduced postpaid plans offering entertainment with free subscription of Amazon Prime and Vodafone Play, complimentary mobile insurance for smartphones up to two years old and free international calling and roaming.

    Additionally, Red Postpaid comes with lowest bill guarantee that ensures customers are assured of never facing bill shocks.

    Beginning July, Anand will be seen making some smart moves, endorsing Vodafone Red. A series of three television commercials will show him propagating the benefits of choosing the postpaid plan to popular cricket presenter Gaurav Kapoor.

In his new role, Sunder will be in-charge of developing and executing Swiggy’s strategic direction and priorities to drive organisational growth and operational excellence.

    MUMBAI: Leading confectionery player Pertfetti Van Melle India has recently appointed Rajesh Ramakrishnan as the new MD of the company. Ramakrishnan will replace Ramesh Jayaraman who has moved to another role within the group.

    In his new role he will be responsible for the operations of the company for India and Nepal.

    Ramakrishnan joined Perfetti Van Melle in 2014 as a managing director for Bangladesh. Under his leadership, Perfetti Van Melle, Bangladesh delivered sustained growth and achieved market leadership in 2016. In August 2017, Rajesh moved to India as the chief transformation officer. As the CTO, he worked with the business teams in strategising and delivering the key elements of the business transformation project to drive topline and bottomline growth.

    MUMBAI: Nestlé India Ltd has recently appointed youth icon Disha Patani as the brand ambassador of Nescafé ready-to-drink, the dairy-based beverage from the company. Patani is the first celebrity endorser to be associated with Nestlé’s Nescafé ready-to-drink range that was launched in October 2016.

    “Nescafe ready-to-drink is an ideal dairy-based beverage that offers refreshment and indulgence on the go. We are delighted to associate with Disha Patani. She is a contemporary youth icon, her energy and dynamism embodies the values that we want to epitomise in Nescafe ready-to-drink,” said Nestlé India general manager Arvind Bhandari as quoted by Livemint.

    The 180 ml tetra packs are priced at Rs 30 and are available in three flavours- including chilled latté, hazelnut and intense café. The ready-to-drink range is available across the country, both in-store as well as e-commerce platforms.

    This dairy-based beverage brand in also available in can packaging, having two flavours including chilled latté and intense café. It is priced at Rs 35 for 180ml cans.

    Nestle India has eight manufacturing facilities across the country and offers a variety of products in various categories. The company sells several chocolate brands like Kitkat, Munch, Milkybar and Bar One. Its milk products and nutrition category offers Everyday and A+ Greek yoghurt. It has a presence in the coffee and ready-to-drink category through the brand Nescafe. It also retails ready-to-cook noodles and ketchup under the brand Maggi as well as milk powder Everyday.

    MUMBAI: In a move to strengthen its investment and enterprise offering, Omnicom Media Group India has elevated Yatin Balyan to the role of national head of investment and enterprise. Reporting to chief investment officer, Mamatha Morvankar, Balyan will now lead Omnicom Media Group’s trading and proprietary media arm, OMnet, in India, enhancing investment opportunities and cost efficiencies for clients of the Group’s agencies – OMD and PHD.

    Balyan’s appointment is effective immediately.

    Previously the vice president of investment for OMD India, Balyan has been with the group for over a decade, working in multiple roles across media planning and investment, covering categories such as FMCG, automotive, mobile, BFSI and TV. As such, he has gained extensive experience in unlocking maximum value for clients from their investments, while also securing new media opportunities and improving cost efficiencies and experience that will be instrumental in this new role.

    Intel CEO Brian Krzanich resigns over relationship with employee

    MUMBAI: Intel Corporation CEO and member of board of directors Brian Krzanich today announced his resignation for a breach of company policy involving a relationship with an employee.

    Krzanich joined Intel in 1982 in New Mexico as an engineer, as the personal computer industry was beginning to take off. He had been trying to remake Intel into a more general provider of chips, expanding into new markets such as industrial systems and self driving cars, with the 2017 purchase of Mobileye for $15.3 billion. 

    On Thursday in a statement  company said chief financial officer Robert  Swan will be interim CEO while the Board searches for permanent replacement. 
     
    Intel chairman Andy Bryant said, “The board believes strongly in Intel’s strategy and we are confident in Bob Swan’s ability to lead the company as we conduct a robust search for our next CEO”.

    “Bob has been instrumental to the development and execution of Intel’s strategy, and we know the company will continue to smoothly execute. We appreciate Brian’s many contributions to Intel” he added.  

    Former CFO Robert Swan has been with Intel since october 2016 he oversees finance, information technology and corporate strategy. Swan previously spent nine years as CFO of eBay Inc. Earlier, he was CFO of Electronic Data Systems Corp. and TRW Inc. He also severed as  CEO of Webyan Group Inc.

    In his new role, interim CEO Swan will be managing operations in close collaboration with Intel’s senior leadership team. 

    Commenting on his new role Robert Swan said, “Intel’s transformation to a data-centric company is well under way and our team is producing great products, excellent growth and outstanding financial results. I look forward to Intel continuing to win in the marketplace”.

    The board has begun its search for a permanent CEO and is looking at both internal and external candidates.

    L’Oreal India appoints Amit Jain as managing director

    MUMBAI: L’Oreal India has appointed Amit Jain as a new India managing director succeeding Jean Christophe Letellier who will shift within L’Oréal group after a five-year stint in the country.

    L’Oreal is one of the largest cosmetics company and has developed activities in the field of hair colour, skin care, sun protection and many others.

    Jain will join the company from August this year and will be the first Indian MD after the French cosmetics giant entered in 1991.

    L’Oreal South Asia Pacific Zone vice president Pierre-Yves Arzel said, “We believe that Amit’s rich global experience with a deep understanding of India, transformational leadership skills and inclusive personality will be an important asset in further developing L’Oréal’s business in India. His mission is to build on our rich talent base and global brands, to make L’Oréal India an engine for growth in Asia,”

    Prior to this, Jain was the managing director of North-West Europe for Akzo Nobel, based in Amsterdam. Jain has also worked in companies including Coca- Cola and Viacom.

    Under Jean-Christophe Letellier’s leadership, India saw significant sales growth, revolutionised digital and e-commerce platforms, and achieved ambitious targets in skill development and environmental sustainability.

    The company, which is almost synonymous with Bollywood actress and its brand ambassador Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in India, face competition from global rivals Unilever and Procter and Gamble

    Mondelez International elevates Luca Zaramella as EVP CFO

    MUMBAI: Mondelez International has elevated Luca Zaramella, appointing him as EVP chief finance officer. 

    His new role will be effective from 1 August, 2018.

    As the new CFO, Zaramella will be responsible for the oversight of the company’s global finance, information and technology solutions and shared services functions. 

    He will report directly to Dirk Van de Put, chairman and chief executive officer, and will be a member of the Mondelez International leadership team. 

    Zaramella will replace Brian Gladden, who will leave the company in August. After 10 years as a public company CFO, Gladden has decided to pursue an opportunity outside of the Fast Moving Consumer Goods  (FMCG) sector. 

    “Luca is a strong financial and strategic leader who possesses deep knowledge of our commercial business at a local level around the world, and deep financial expertise,” noted Van de Put. “He has been developed to take on this role for many years and has been closely involved in the development of our new strategic framework.”

    On leaving the organisation, Brian Gladden said, “I have enjoyed working with the Mondelēz International team to build a world-class global finance organisation. Leaving the company is a tough decision, but I look forward to a new career experience and depart knowing that Luca is an ideal choice to be the company’s next CFO.  Luca and I have worked side-by-side over the past few years, and I have incredible respect for his financial expertise and company knowledge.”

    With more than 20 years of broad financial experience in both emerging and developed markets, and a track record of delivering strong results, Zaramella has an intimate knowledge of the company’s business across products, markets, operations, competitors and customers.  

    Zaramella has served as Mondelez International’s SVP of corporate finance since 2016 and was the SVP and corporate controller from 2014 to 2016. Prior to that, he was SVP of finance at Mondelez Europe. He began his career with the company in Italy before holding positions of increasing seniority in Latin America, Europe and North America.

    Mondelez International had a net revenue of approximately $26 billion in 2017. The company is a world leader in biscuits, chocolate, gum, candy and powdered beverages, featuring global Power Brands such as Oreo and belVita biscuits; Cadbury Dairy Milk and Milka chocolate; and Trident gum.
