    Havas Group India appoints Priyanka Mehra as director marketing and communications

    MUMBAI:  Havas Group India has appointed Priyanka Mehra as director marketing and communications. The appointment is in line with unifying communications across all disciplines under the Havas Group umbrella. Her remit includes working with the senior leadership in India and the regional communications team to elevate brand reputation and awareness along with managing key strategic tie-ups in line with the Group’s “Together” strategy.

    A media professional who leverages over 14 years of experience in the media and marketing arena, Mehra’s last stint was  at Creativeland Asia as editor-in-chief – content marketing. Mehra also has varied experience across brand verticals including luxury and ecommerce in content consulting, marketing, and brand management.

    Havas Group India chairman and chief creative officer Bobby Pawar said, “The sheer length and breadth of communications at Havas collaborating with Vivendi entertainment and content platforms provide us with great marketing ammunition and Priyanka’s appointment is a step forward in showcasing our strength as a Group in the Indian market.”

    MUMBAI: The head of digital marketing and PR at Hero Cycles, Ashish Tiwari has reportedly stepped down from his position. He was leading the digital marketing and PR team at the company for the past two years. It has not yet been revealed where he will be joining next.

    During his tenure at Hero, Ashish Tiwari was functional in leading a comprehensive digital transformation strategy for the entire HMC and was involved in planning and executing seamless change management across various global geographies working closely with multiple strategic business heads. He was also behind one of the most successful moment marketing initiative during Kerala floods.

    An IIM Bangalore alumnus, Ashish Tiwari has earlier worked with companies like Jubilant Agri, Vodafone India, and HCL Infosystems.

    MUMBAI: Swiss watch brand Favre-Leuba has announced the appointment of Vijesh Rajan as business head and the new spokesperson for the brand.  After the successful tenure of Thomas Morf, the CEO and spokesperson of the brand under whose leadership the brand was relaunched with a modern dynamic outlook yet retaining its rich legacy, Rajan has come on-board with a vision to position Favre-Leuba as an iconic brand in the Swiss watch industry, a status that befits its rich and glorious history and legacy.

    He has previously been a part of the parent company of Favre-Leuba and has successfully worked for Titan in the watch industry for close to two decades. Having worked in several leadership positions he has handled multiple facets of the watch industry across all key global markets.

    Vikas Mehta appointed Mullen Lintas CEO

    MUMBAI: Creative agency of the MullenLowe Lintas Group, Mullen Lintas, has appointed Vikas Mehta as its new CEO. He will operate out of the company’s Mumbai office.

    Mehta takes this role from Virat Tandon, who was recently elevated to the position of group CEO, MullenLowe Lintas Group.

    Mehta comes with an experience of nearly two decades and has spent over 12 years with the global MullenLowe Group, working in multiple countries across the Asia-Pacific region. He started working for the company in India in 2013 and played several roles including group chief marketing officer, head of the digital and president—group marketing services. His last assignment was to set up the omnichannel creative agency, PointNine Lintas, which he ran as CEO until its merger with Lowe Lintas, announced last week.

    Gillette severs ties with cricketer Hardik Pandya

    MUMBAI: The controversial remarks made by cricketer Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul have cost them a lot. While BCCI has suspended the duo from playing any form of cricket until final adjudication of the matter, the brands associated with them have also started reviewing their associations.

    Gillette India has already suspended its association with Hardik Pandya, who was appointed as the brand ambassador for men’s shaving razor Gillette Mach3 just a few months back. In an official statement, a Gillette spokesperson stated, “Hardik Pandya’s recent comments do not reflect the values of Gillette. We have suspended our association with Hardik until we decide on further course of action.”

    As per certain other media reports, other brands associated with the cricketers are also in the process of reviewing their terms. While Hardik Pandya endorses brands such as Gillette and D:FY, Puma’s sportswear brand, KL Rahul is associated with names like Puma and Curefit.

    Meanwhile, online streaming platform Hotstar has taken down the controversial episode from its site.

    UCB appoints Jean-Charles de Castelbajac as artistic director

    MUMBAI: Fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac has been appointed artistic director of the United Colors Of Benetton men’s and women’s collections.

    UCB chairman Luciano Benetton said, “We are happy to welcome Jean-Charles de Castelbajac into our big family. His experience, charisma, and ability to forecast tomorrow’s social and fashion trends will constitute a great asset for our brand.”

    Castelbajac has a long career that spans from design to painting, advertising and street art. He debuted in the fashion world in 1968, when he launched a brand created in collaboration with his mother. He then went on to inspire fashion trends such as the “anti-fashion” movement and the alternative use of objects to decorate garments.

    In 1974 he co-founded Iceberg. In 1978 he founded Maison Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, which he left in 2016. Over the years he has also collaborated with Max Mara, Ellesse, Courrèges, Rossignol, and Le Coq Sportif. Born from a mix of punk and pop, his style is characterised by the use of strong colors and pop icons, the mix of old and new and a whimsical and irreverent touch.

    “An iconic brand, United Colors of Benetton envisioned the world of today: a pop, colorful, affordable and universal fashion, enhanced by Oliviero Toscani’s powerful images,” commented Castelbajac. “United Colors of Benetton and I have always had a similar take on fashion, characterized by the passion for knitwear and the love of pop and rainbow colors.”

    Castelbajac and Benetton also share a passion for contaminating fashion with art. In his career, the French designer befriended and worked with artists such as Andy Warhol, Miguel Barcelo, Keith Haring, Jean Michel Basquiat, M.I.A and Lady Gaga. His creations have been displayed at New York’s Institute of Fashion and Technology, London’s Victoria&Albert Museum and the Galliera Museum in Paris. In 2018 he was guest artistic director at the Paris Biennale.

    “Thanks to social networks, fashion today is visible to everyone. But it remains affordable only to a few,” Castelbajac said, adding, “Together, United Colors of Benetton and I will seek to create tomorrow’s wardrobe, bringing beauty and style to everyday life, at prices that everyone can afford.”

    MUMBAI: L&K Saatchi & Saatchi has announced the departure of its CCO Delna Sethna and the roll out of a new creative organisational structure which will be led by Kartik Smetacek and Rohit Malkani, both of whom will now be sharing the national creative director responsibility. It was less than a year back that the agency had announced the elevation of Delna Sethna as a CCO.

    Smetacek and Malkani have been elevated from the post of ECD and national ECD, respectively. While the former will be responsible for the creative teams in Mumbai, the latter will be responsible for the creative teams in Delhi and Kolkata with some key projects in Mumbai.  

    With over 18 years of experience, Smetacek has worked across a host of agencies including Publicis Ambience, ideas@work, Draft FCB. For the last four years he's been at L&K Saatchi & Saatchi.   

    Malkani started his advertising career in the account planning department at Rediffusion DY&R, Delhi. After a brief stint he moved to the creative side. With over 15 years’ experience in the industry he’s worked with JWT, Planetasia.com, Publicis Ambience, Bates, Grey Worldwide, Publicis Singapore and Minority on a diverse range of brands.

    Fonterra Future Dairy appoints Ishmeet Singh as CEO

    MUMBAI: Fonterra Future Dairy Pvt Ltd, which is a new joint venture between global dairy nutrition company Fonterra Co-operative Group and new age FMCG company Future Consumer Limited, has announced the appointment of Ishmeet Singh as its CEO.

    Singh is a physics graduate, and has a Master’s in Management Studies from Mumbai’s Sydenham Institute. He has an experience of more than 25 years and has earlier been a member of the Western Region Committee (WRC) of the American Chamber of Commerce, as well.

    In the past, has also worked with brands like FMCG companies such as Mattel, Vodafone, Hindustan Unilever, Coca-Cola, and Vodafone. Most recently, he led the business at Mattel, largest toy manufacturer in the world, as its Country Manager for India and the SAARC region.

    MUMBAI: Ride-sharing company Uber has announced the appointment of Pavan Vaish as its new head of central operations. Pavan joins Uber with over 25 years of experience in building and leading global technology businesses.

    In his earlier experience, Vaish has been the co-founder and CEO of Daksh e-services, the geographical footprint of which has been expanded across Latam, Europe, and Asia. The company is popular as recognised as one of the most successful service's acquisitions in IBM’s history. Vaish spearheaded its integration with IBM.

    Vaish was also amongst the co-founders of Quadrant Infotech, an offshore data capturing business focused on the US market. A visionary among BPO industry leaders, he has been guiding the industry toward achieving competitive advantages beyond labour arbitrage long before the onset of commoditsation of BPO services.

    He had also been the global chief operating officer at UnitedLex, where he was responsible for overseeing daily business operations and managing its business objectives across various geographies. He was also responsible for the transformation of IBM Global Process Services from an emerging enterprise into one of the largest and most respected companies in the Global BPO industry.

    An alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, he holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University. He is also a Graduate of the Advanced Management Program of the Harvard Business School.

    MUMBAI: LIXIL, maker of pioneering water and housing products, recently announced the appointment of Bobby Joseph as the new Managing Director for LIXIL Water Technologies (LWT)- India & Subcontinent.

    LIXIL has been in the Indian market for over a decade now through its product brands like American Standard and GROHE. Our India business has grown successfully and seen the addition of products and services like INAX tiles and LIXIL Prefabricated bathrooms to its portfolio. LWT India & Subcontinent is now on a transformational journey to cement its leadership position in the domestic market in the next few years. Bobby’s mission will be to lead the business and leadership that we have in place today to aggressively execute the consumer-centric growth strategy that will take LIXIL’s presence and reach in India to the next level.

    Towards this end, Bobby shall be leveraging the global scale of LWT’s brand portfolio and experience in the key categories of sanitary ware as well as housing products and services. He shall be responsible for the commercial business of all verticals within LWT India & Subcontinent; including but not limited to managing all the brands in LWT (American Standard, GROHE), INAX (Tiles), Integrated Bathroom Systems (Prefabricated bathrooms) etc.

    Bobby brings more than two decades of leadership experience to LIXIL, with expertise across a wide range of disciplines including sales, key partnership development and business turnaround. He has held P&L accountability in both the India and Middle East markets.

    Prior to joining LIXIL, Bobby was the Regional Head of India & Middle East of Plantronics, an American electronics company producing audio communications equipment for business and consumers worldwide. He has dedicated fifteen years of solid service with Plantronics. Notably, to his well-deserved credit, Bobby was the one who started-up and pioneered Plantronics operations in India in 2002, and repeated the same start-up success in the Middle East in 2011.

    Bobby will be based in Gurgaon, reporting to Bijoy Mohan, CEO of LIXIL Asia Pacific.
