    MUMBAI: DAN Consult, the consulting division from the house of Dentsu Aegis Network, has roped in Shashank Sharma as principal – FMCG. Based out of New Delhi, Sharma will report to DAN Consult CEO Lalit Bhagia. His chief mandate is to help build a client-facing FMCG consulting practice. 

    Prior to joining DAN Consult, Sharma has driven growth across diverse categories in leading FMCG companies like Nestle, Dabur, and Pernod Ricard. From food, healthcare and dairy to luxury segments, he has led brand transformations with revenues over $100 million to achieve accelerated growth through rapid and continuous innovations in product, promotion and distribution.

    On his new role, Shashank Sharma said, “I am looking forward to contributing growth hacks across FMCG clients, leveraging today's tech and DAN Consult’s growth hacking toolboxes and expertise.     MUMBAI: Gatorade India today announced that it has signed on champion athlete Hima Das as its brand ambassador. She joins athletes PV Sindhu and Neeraj Chopra as the brand’s ambassador in India.

    The brand will be paying tribute to the sprint runner by giving a new twist to its ‘Nothing Beats Gatorade’ philosophy. ‘Nothing Beats Hima. Nothing Beats Gatorade’ builds on the brand’s belief that sports performance is driven from within.

    The Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) honored Madhukar Kamath with this year’s AAAI Lifetime Achievement Award today in the presence of the who’s who of the advertising industry. This is the highest honour to be given to individuals in India for their outstanding contribution to the Advertising Industry. The Award, being presented annually, recognizes the individual's contribution.

    The award recognized Madhukar’s pioneering and outstanding contribution to the growth and development of the advertising industry in India. He played a vital role in transforming a traditional advertising agency into one of India’s most successful and diversified communication companies. Madhukar also played a key role in the Omnicom acquisition of the Mudra Group and the integration with the Global DDB Network. Subsequently, he facilitated the entry of Interbrand, the leading Global Brand Consultancy into India, and functioned as its Chairman.

    For his commitment to the cause of education and building talent for the marketing communications & services industry in India, Madhukar took forward the legacy of A G Krishnamurthy in building MICA and establishing it as India’s leading business School for Strategic Marketing and Communication Management. He was the Chairman of Mudra Foundation from 2003 to 2017.

    Speaking about his long journey in advertising, Mr. Madhukar Kamath said, “To join the ranks of the legends that I’ve always admired is truly humbling.     The AAAI Lifetime Achievement Award is presented annually to an individual who has been a practitioner of advertising for twenty-five years and had been in the top management position; has been or continues to be an active participant in industry bodies and or made significant contributions in shaping the industry priorities which enabled the advertising industry to grow, prosper and  become more professionalized;  individual  known for his integrity, ethical practice and leadership qualities;  contributed to his Company/Companies growth by innovative thinking and taking them in newer directions; involved in projects of social consequence which is seen as a role model for the industry at large and had been an industry veteran.

    This award was instituted in 1988 by AAAI and some of the past winners include Subhas Ghosal, Alyque Padamsee, Mike Khanna, Piyush Pandey, Sam Balsara, Prem Mehta, Ram Sehgal and others.

    Karan Shroff joins Unacademy as VP marketing

    MUMBAI: The former head of brand marketing at Xiaomi India, Karan Shroff, has moved to join educational technology start-up Unacademey as vice president marketing. In his new role, Shroff will be responsible for planning the overall marketing strategies for the brand and will be based out of its Bangalore office. 

    Shroff shared the news of his departure from Xiamoi, where he worked for more than four years, via a LinkedIn post expressing his gratitude to the team he worked with during the stint and did “tons of launches, 100s of campaigns”.

    He had joined Xiaomi in 2015 as senior marketing manager. He ranked up steadily and was overseeing all the campaigns pertaining to the overall image and positioning of the brand in India. He was responsible for some of the iconic campaigns like “Kiska Baja”, “Naya Note”, and also the brand’s first Guinness World Record. 

    Prior to Xiaomi, Shroff has worked with companies such as Herbalife International India Pvt Ltd, Bertelsmann, Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt Ltd and Pixies Events.

    Bhavana Mittal joins RPSG Group as head of media and digital

    MUMBAI:  Former regional head of media-South Asia Reckitt Benckiser Bhavana Mittal has joined RPSG Group as the head of media & digital. She will be based in company’s Gurgaon office.

    RPSG group comprises of a huge portfolio including renowned brands like Too Yumm!, Spencers, Nature’s Basket, and Saregama Carvaan among others.

    Mittal joins the group with over two decades of experience in the industry and has worked with a number of successful brands. She had started her career in 1998 at Saatchi & Saatchi as media executive. She has also worked in  WPP-owned media agency GroupM. She had also been associated with agencies such as Contract Advertising and Cheil Communications previously.

    Prior to her stint with RB, she worked with British drugmaker GSK for over six years.
