Amagi partners with BARC India to offer monitoring of geo-targeted TV ad-campaigns

MUMBAI: Amagi Media Labs has entered into a partnership agreement with India’s apex television viewership monitoring body BARC India to help advertisers monitor geo-targeted ad-campaigns of brands across TV channels.

With this partnership, TV networks offering geo-targeted split of its national channels, including their national and regional feeds will be monitored on a separate basis and will be listed across BARC India’s interfaces. This will help Amagi’s advertisers evaluate their national geo-targeted ad-campaigns on BARC India’s software and as a result will increase the credibility of the concept of geo-targeting advertising.

“Our partnership with the BARC India is a proof of the increasing ad spends of brands geo-targeting on TV. As competition becomes local, be it large brands or small regional brands all of them need to target specific region as their product has specific regional promotional needs. This will help marketers measure the ROI of their targeted TV campaigns and fine tune their media strategies. It will also be a great tool for our future customers to understand the large and varied audiences they can cater to using Amagi’s patented geo-targeting technology”, said Amagi Media Labs co-founder Baskar Subramanian.

As the industry’s authoritative voice on TV viewership data, BARC India’s association with Amagi will provide transparent and quality data on geo-targeted advertising, thus enhancing its offering to its own clients, and providing unprecedented insights into the viewership patterns of the diverse and heterogeneous Indian market.

“BARC India has always endeavored towards providing the media industry with cutting edge viewership and advertising data. Our tie up with Amagi in monitoring geo-targeted advertising is a big step in this direction. As more and more companies opt for geo-targeted advertising, the importance of this data is only growing. This partnership is an essential tool in providing the industry with data that will help them plan their campaigns with deeper insights,” said BARC India CEO Partho Dasgupta.

iProspect conceptualises unique digital video for ICICI two-wheeler insurance

MUMBAI: iProspect India has conceptualized and executed a unique digital video for ICICI Lombard General Insurance in their latest campaign on two-wheeler insurance.

The two and a half minute video, captures the reactions of a handful of people from different age groups, genders and backgrounds, returning to a two-wheeler basement parking after a couple of hours only to see huge scratches on their respective bikes. They spend tense moments wondering how this happened and because of whom, and are shown to ask for the security guard to question him as anyone typically would in such a situation. They eventually breathe a sigh of relief later when they realize that it’s only a sticker pasted onto their two-wheeler and not a real mark – bringing a smile onto their faces. The message after removing the sticker is as below.

The video has garnered over 3,14,418 views on YouTube and 13,30,807 views on Facebook, while the brand searches during this time increased by over 11%. Interestingly, the industry average for watching a full 2-minute digital video stands at around 7%, however, this video recorded a whopping 30 per cent plus rate.

ICICI Lombard executive director Sanjeev Mantri said, “India has over 16 crore two wheelers registered with the transport authorities today. While this is an impressive number, nearly 70% of two-wheelers ply on roads without any insurance cover. At ICICI Lombard, we believe it is imperative for us to lead efforts towards addressing this issue of abysmally low insurance and ensure that vehicle owners are protected from any exigencies.”

iProspect India CEO Vivek Bhargava said, “Digital as a medium grabs maximum eyeballs, more so with respect to generating shareable content that audiences can relate to and has scope to go viral. This not just leaves an impression on the viewer, but also helps in driving purchase intent. Digital has become the driver of most brand campaigns and this is only slated to grow.”

“Instead of being preachy or informative, we thought of creating a moment of realization instead. When brands spend millions to advertise through a TVC, this tactical approach proved to be more effective and efficient. The fact that ICICI Lombard readily went with our vision for the campaign is much appreciated,” said iProspect India senior strategist Jahan Vandrevala.

  • eBay engages consumer with live game on FB

eBay engages consumer with live game on FB

MUMBAI: Festive season is a busy time for Indian brands, especially the e-commerce players given the shopping spree the nation witnessed around the time. Thus it becomes important to brainstorm on new and unique ways to get the consumer’s attention; something different from the unbelievable discounts that is default of the season.

eBay India’s doing so by hosting the first ever Facebook live gaming event for its consumers called Dhanbola (online tambola). Hosted by stand-up comedian Zakir Khan, Dhanbola went live on October 25, from 4:00-5:00 pm on eBay India FB page, and was witnessed by over 7000 people live.

The concept of Dhanbola was simple: over 5.6 million consumers on ebay.in had gotten codes that entitled them to participate in live Dhanbola event, witth prizes such as MacBook Pro, an Apple iPhone 7 or a Philips Bluetooth speaker up for grabs.

“Our festive season in India, which started on 15 September and will continue till Diwali, is the most important time of the year for our business. These forty five days have been packed with multiple activities, be it exclusive launches, new products and attractive offers and discounts,” shared eBay India marketing director Shivani Suri.

This year, eBay is especially looking forward to the festive given a huge jump in their over all product selection on the platform. Compared to last year’s three crore products, this year the e-commerce player boasts of 10 crore products on the site.

Thus, unlike its usual presence on the digital platforms, this year eBay has launched a TVC campaign as well, with a shelf life of around six weeks.

The e-commerce player’s latest TVC campaign titled #ThingsDontJudge highlights the variety of products that eBay has to offer while also turning materialism on its head. The caption for the ad sums up the idea behind the advert. It states that “Don’t let the voices hold you back. eBay has products that don’t judge you for who you are or what you believe in. They say just one thing – Live and let live.”

Tying the TVC’s message with the latest FB initiative Suri had earlier said “Our recently launched TVC campaign #ThingsDontJudge struck a chord with consumers from different walks of life. Dhanbola is yet another industry first from eBay India to not only deepen our engagement with consumers on a platform which is preferred by them but also to celebrate the spirit of the upcoming festivities.”

Apart from ‘Dhanbola’, eBay shoppers will be given a chance to engage with the stand-up comedian through several additional activities. Consumers can challenge the host for either a ‘Truth or Dare’, and/or a real time “Roast the Host.”

eBay offers consumers the option to make purchases via EMI through ICICI, Citibank and HDFC credit cards. All purchases are covered under the eBay Guarantee which ensures refund or replacement in case a consumer is unhappy with the purchase.

Culture Machine & Quaker Oats aim to feed kids

MUMBAI: As the festive mood gathers spirit in the country, Culture Machine’s digital channel Being Indian, in collaboration with Quaker Oats, have released a new campaign. Titled “Ek Muthi Sonu ke Naam”, the video urges people to pause and spare a thought to the millions of children who go hungry.

With hunger being one of the major causes of death around the world, the video is aimed at making the viewers sit up and take notice of this statistic. It is based on the vision behind the #QuakerFeedAChild initiative.

“We believe that ‘Ek Muthi Quaker’ has the power to make a difference in people’s lives. Quaker Feed a Child is a social extension of what ‘Ek Muthi’ can do. The video articulates a powerful thought urging us all to make every festival more meaningful by simply pledging a fistful to feed a child,” said PepsiCo India VP nutrition category Deepika Warrior.

Depicting the emotion of every mother’s desire to make sure her child does not sleep hungry, the campaign takes us through many homes depicting how much effort a mother puts into ensuring her child eats that one morsel of food. Yet, while a few mothers sing lullabies to cajole and feed their child, there are others who don’t have anything to feed theirs.

The video ends with a call to action from chef Vikas Khanna with a pledge to feed a child this festive season, giving details on how one can make a difference.

“It is saddening that despite the progress made by science and technology, hunger still tops the reason for death today. Along with Quaker, we aim to enlighten people about this and inspire people to make a change in their everyday lives in a way to contribute to the society,” read Being Indian’s statement.
