    MUMBAI: Contrary to reports that appeared in the media yesterday, Madison Media continues to handle the digital mandate for Airtel brand and media. The agency however does not handle “search marketing” for airtel.in.

     

    Madison Media Group CEO Gautam Kiyawat in a statement says: “Digital is a very important element within Madison Media and our attempt has been to offer clients a holistic media strategy encompassing all media to achieve their brand’s business objectives”.

     

    Madison Media today works with many marquee clients in the digital space including Airtel, Mondelez/Cadbury, Marico, Levis, Budweiser, Asian Paints, BJP, Raymond, Yatra.com, Fiama diWills, and many other clients. The agency has a strong 60 member digital team most of them embedded in large teams that handle the media accounts of large marquee clients.

     

    Madison Media has won several awards in the digital and mobile domain with the latest one being The Festival of Media Global Award and Asia Pacific Award for Parachute Advansed Ayurvedic Hair Oil for convincing consumers to become the brand’s sales force leveraging the power of Mobile. The agency also won a Yahoo Big Idea Chair for its campaign on Airtel, Har ek Friend Zarori Hai.  At the Emvies Awards held last year, Madison Media also won a Gold for Best Innovation in Digital (Video) for Cadbury Celebrations – Lonely Maa.

     

    Madison Media Group handles media planning and buying for blue chip clients including Airtel, Godrej, Mondelez/Cadbury, ITC, General Motors, Marico, McDonald’s, Raymond, Piramal Healthcare, TVS, Levis, SpiceJet, Domino’s, Bharti Axa, Max Life Insurance, Asian Paints, Pidilite, Tata Salt, Acer, Lafarge Cement, Dish TV, Times Television Network, Indian Oil, Cafe Coffee Day and many others.  The agency claims to have gross billings of over Rs 3000 crore.

    IAA exhorts youth to vote in teaser campaign

    MUMBAI: The India Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) has launched a teaser campaign aimed at making the first time voters exercise their franchise.

     

    The initiative takes the form of a creative with a QR code which if scanned on a smart phone would reveal a video. 

     

    IAA president Srinivasan Swamy said,“This is yet another important initiative that shows what the communications industry can do societally. The IAA has been trying its best through various efforts to champion causes like the environment, women’s issues and now social change. The creative uses a teaser approach to communicate a very important message. I hope it will will trend virally on social media.”

     

     
    Posters of this are being put up in 40 colleges across Mumbai. 10,000 newspaper supplements are being distributed at a major youth event.

     
    LINE, a Japanese proprietary application for instant messaging on smartphones and personal computers, who have over 400 million users worldwide have agreed to spread the word to their entire India user base.

    Opera Software, the makers of Opera browsers for desktop/ PCs and mobile devices has agreed to partner with IAA and will support the initiative by spreading awareness of this campaign to millions of Opera Mini users in India.

    Group M, through their Dialogue Factory have created the campaign and many media houses will be carrying the it as an advertisement. It will also be sent to all IAA members to display as a poster.

    MUMBAI: Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), continues to strengthen ties with India and equity partner, Jet Airways, following a new sponsorship deal naming both airlines as principal sponsors and official airlines of the celebrated Mumbai Indians cricket team.

     

    This is the Abu Dhabi-based airline’s first high profile sports sponsorship in the region and one that underscores its expanding commitment to the Indian market.

     

    A franchise cricket team of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Mumbai Indians are thelargest social sports brand in India and are closely followed by millions of fans across the globe. The team is known for its balance of experienced cricketers as well asthe young talented players scouted from India and across the world.

     

    Crowned as champions of the 2013 IPL, the Mumbai Indians will be playing in the Pepsi IPL 2014 Tournament whose first 20 matcheswill behosted in the UAE. Along with the Mumbai Indians, seven teams will showcase their cricketing skills in the UAE leg of the tournament which will take place between 16 and 30 April at three different venues: Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.

    Among the highlights of the sponsorship agreement will be the display of extensive Etihad Airways and Jet Airways branding and messaging beamed across LED pitch-side advertising and on giant screens in the stadium. This will occur during the Mumbai Indians home matches including the tournament’s first game which will be played at theZayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. In addition, the airlines’ logos will be prominently displayed on the teams’ shirts and merchandise.

     

    A comprehensive activation planwith the Mumbai Indians will be heldincluding community programs, competitions and promotions for flights and holidays with the teams’ fans.

    Etihad Airways and equity partner Jet airways had previously jointly hosted the Manchester City FC football coaching clinics inMumbai and Delhi in December 2013.

    MUMBAI: Forget love, mergers are in the air these days.  The latest being MASH Advertising with IBD India.

     

    Percept has restructured its advertising business to merge the two entities with effect from 1 April. The restructure will enable Percept to offer better synergies, streamline operations and efficiencies between the two agencies, and provide a greater array of services and solutions to stakeholders.

     

    Rahul Gupta has been elevated to managing director of the merged business wef 1 April. Gupta had set up ByDesign in 1994 to offer strategic brand services based on superior creativity, and in 2007 ByDesign entered into a JV with Percept–Hakuhodo to form IBD India.

     

    Today IBD India offers a complete 360 degree approach in providing brand and marketing solutions to clients. Over the years Rahul has brought invaluable expertise to the many dynamic brands handled by IBD India including SSK Group, Panasonic, PNB Housing, Tupperware, Taj Group of Hotels, K Raheja Corp and Tilaknagar.

    MUMBAI: MediaCom has brought on board Rathi Gangappa as head west.

     

    She will report to MediaCom India MD Debraj Tripathy and will oversee P&G along with rest of the west businesses that include the VW group, HRI, Vespa and others.

     

    Tripathy said, “I am delighted to welcome Rathi to the MediaCom family. I am confident her varied experience across organisations, both agencies and advertisers, and across categories will help us deliver greater value to our clients. I wish her the very best for a long and enriching career with MediaCom”

     

    Prior to joining Mediacom, Gangappa was at Vodafone as the head of media and was subsequently in charge of developing Vodafone’s mobile marketing product. She has been instrumental in building Vodafone’s leading media identity and driving their strategic media solutions.

     

    Gangappa started her career in Lintas Media after which she moved to Maximize (now Maxus) when GroupM India was formed. In a career spanning over 18 years, Gangappa has worked with clients like Unilever, Hutch/ Vodafone, Tata Motors, Britannia and Walt Disney.

    MUMBAI: After working for six years with DDB Mudra, the chief operating officer, Pratap Bose, is taking a summer holiday!

     

    The news of him quitting the agency broke yesterday. However, not many were surprised with it as the reason of him putting down his papers was known. The group CEO and MD Madhukar Kamath has been given a four year extension at the agency and it is this reason why Bose resigned. Bose was expected to take over from Kamath, post his expected retirement.

     

    Without indulging more on the subject Bose says, “It was a quick decision for me given the circumstances. But it has been glorious six years with the agency and I’m looking for the next chapter in my life and career.”

     

    Bose has already been approached by other agencies, but he hasn’t taken any decision yet. “I might take a break for a while and then decide on the options.”

     

    His last day in the agency is 11 April but will be available for handover or any work, if needed.

     

    No one will be replacing him in the agency and people reporting to him will now be directly reporting to Kamath.

     

    Prior to joining Mudra, Bose was with Ogilvy & Mather for 17 years; in 2006, he was named (youngest) CEO of the agency.

     

    A chartered accountant by qualification, Bose has also worked across markets – national and international.

     

    Last year, he was appointed as the president of the Ad Club and will continue to spearhead it.

    MUMBAI: Election wave is on and is not sparing anyone. In the same context, International Advertising Association (IAA) in its next IAA Conversations will see political party representatives Ram Naik (BJP), Prem Shukla (Shiv Sena), Sanjay Jha (Congress) and political analyst Kumar Ketkar debating.

     

    The panel discussion moderated by Anand Rathi will deliberate on ‘Do Opinion Polls and Media Reports Influence Voters?’ between 4pm and 6pm on 10 April at the Nehru Centre, Mumbai.

     

    IAA India Chapter president & development Asia Pacific region of IAA vice president Srinivasan Swamy said, “Our objective at the IAA India Chapter is to bring about discussions on key issues concerning advertising, media and allied sectors. This edition of IAA Conversations is an attempt to deliberate on an issue that has generated much discussion in the run-up to the general elections.”

     

    Zee Media group CEO and chair of the event Dr Bhaskar Das said, “The role of the media in influencing public opinion cannot be denied and hence this discussion with key stakeholders will bring to the fore issues and concerns on how opinion polls and media reports can influence the masses at election time.”

     

    “Many senior members of the advertising, marketing and media fraternity are invited to be present at the engaging event,’ added Swamy.
