Some consumers are feeling the pinch of high cost of living in terms of strain on personal finances for day-to-day running of households and lack of disposable incomes for savings and buying of big ticket items and discretionary spends. The sentiment is also down around the economy. Global factors continue to bog down our economy also with the rupee weakening against the dollar at Rs. 84/$, with the wars in Ukraine and Gaza continuing.”

    Consumer sentiment in 29 countries

Among the 29 countries, India has now moved to the 2nd spot, preceded by Indonesia (63.6) which now holds the highest national index score. Indonesia and India (61.6) are the only countries with a national index score of 60 or higher.

  • AI not a threat to human touch in the events industry

AI not a threat to human touch in the events industry

Mumbai: In a landscape increasingly shaped by automation and artificial intelligence (AI), remarkable opportunities emerge for industries. While reports indicate that AI could displace up to 23 per cent of jobs in India by 2040 and estimate a range of 9 per cent to 26 per cent job losses by 2030, particularly in roles susceptible to automation, NeoNiche founder and CEO  Prateek N Kumar Integrated Solutions, digital-first, full services experiential-marketing company says that the events industry is poised to harness AI as a powerful ally rather than a threat.

The essence of events lies in creating memorable experiences, fundamentally requiring human creativity, emotional connection, and logistics management. These irreplaceable qualities manifest through personalization and empathy, which AI cannot replicate. Whether orchestrating a wedding, corporate gathering, or private celebration, the nuances of human relationships and the art of hospitality remain irreplaceable assets.

The Human touch shines through creative expertise and innovation, be it delivering immersive experiences, or continually adapting to trends as per client preferences. This dynamic creativity cannot be programmed or emulated by AI, underscoring the necessity of human skills in these creative processes.

Moreover, the unpredictable nature of events often presents unforeseen challenges requiring quick decision-making and adept problem-solving skills. The experience and intuition of event professionals are central to navigating complex logistics, coordinating multiple vendors, and managing last-minute hurdles. While AI can support these functions, its limitations underscore the need for human oversight.

“In an era where automation and artificial intelligence are reshaping industries, the events sector stands as a testament to the irreplaceable value of human touch. While reports indicate a substantial displacement of jobs due to AI, our industry thrives on the unique blend of creativity, personal connections, and cultural sensitivity – elements that machines cannot replicate. Embracing AI as a powerful ally allows us to streamline operations, enhance customer insights, and optimize resources without undermining the essential human experiences that define remarkable events”, said NeoNiche Integrated Solutions founder and CEO Prateek N Kumar.

“By integrating AI thoughtfully, we can create tailored, immersive experiences that resonate deeply with our clients while ensuring our teams can focus on the strategic, creative aspects of event management. In this fast-evolving landscape, leveraging AI isn’t just an option – it’s crucial for maintaining competitive advantage and delivering unforgettable experiences.”, he added.

Rather than positioning AI as a rival, the events sector can leverage its capabilities for enhanced results. AI brings transformative benefits, such as streamlining operations by automating administrative tasks, enhancing customer insights through data analytics, personalizing marketing strategies to engage audiences effectively, and optimizing supply chain management to ensure efficiency.

Without further ado, here it goes…

A book you are currently reading or plan to read

Why We Die by Venki Ramakrishnan, a Nobel prize-winning molecular biologist. It’s a brilliant book on how we function as a coherent system, covering topics like anti-aging, mortality, longevity, and more.

    Your fitness mantra

For a long time, until a few years ago, my mantra was “Pain Is Good: Keep Going :).” This especially came in handy during my Ironman training.

Now, with a busier schedule, my mantra is a bit more conservative—it’s about maximising the minute. I’m a lot more mindful of my time, which allows me to be more efficient and gain benefits from shorter workouts too.

    Your comfort food

Scrambled eggs, some fruits like berries, mango, oranges. Rajma Chawal – all-time favourite lunch too.

A quote or philosophy that keeps you going when the chips are down

My philosophy is to develop a happy frame of mind. Always focus on the big picture and express gratitude. Every challenging moment, no matter how severe, is refining us. That’s the approach.

Even during a low day or phase, I see and write down all the wonderful things that are happening. It’s enlightening to note that there are always so many wonderful things, and this helps me shift my energy to align with the goal ahead—the big picture. As I do this and move my thoughts and energy toward the big picture, I feel life-gathering momentum, and the vibe/fragrance changes.

    Your guilty pleasure

Many… when this happens, it could be cake, ice cream, snacks, etc.!

For me, a guilty pleasure is also watching a series. (I rarely do—maybe once a year… big guilt ticket!)

The last time you tried something new

Given our focus on innovative wellness solutions at Atmantan, I believe it’s essential to personally experience the treatments we offer. Recently, I tried a cryotherapy session as we explore the suitability of this therapy for our guests. The cryo chamber temperature dropped to -110 degrees for 3 minutes.

Surprisingly, I felt pretty good—it helped reduce the fatigue and tiredness of the day. I felt refreshed. We are exploring these machines because we get many guests with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Muscle Soreness, etc.

A life lesson you learned the hard way

In my experience, navigating the complexities of government regulations is crucial for business success. Although I have a strong track record of compliance, there was an instance where a submitted application did not fully adhere to the required disclosures. This oversight emphasised the importance of rigorous review processes and direct involvement in all regulatory matters. Since then, I have implemented a robust process to ensure complete compliance and minimise risks.

What gets you excited about life?

What truly excites me is witnessing the transformative power of our programmes. Each day brings new opportunities to help individuals unlock their full potential. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see people overcome challenges and embrace a healthier lifestyle. The prospect of creating lasting positive change in people’s lives drives me forward.

Another thing that excites me is waking up early. The possibilities are endless with an early start to the day.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

    Experiencing Mahakumbh in Jan 2025.

If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?

    Read more and plan better.

I have always been a high-energy person, but early on, I could have aligned my energy with my goals better.

One thing you would most like to change about the world

If I could change one thing about the world, I’d hope to instill a deeper sense of interconnectedness. We have become so focused on individual success that we often overlook the impact of our actions on others, including the Earth. If we appreciated that it’s not just about the human community—that our ecosystem includes animals, plants, and nature with whom we need to coexist—this would transform the collective well-being of the planet we live on. It’s about recognizing that we’re all part of something bigger and that our choices matter.

Ch. 13. V 17: “Undivided, and Yet, in beings, it exists as if Divided….”

    Your go-to stress buster

Spending time with my son is a big stress buster for me. It’s been like this since he came into our lives. Spending time with him is an escape from the daily grind and the hustle and bustle of running a business. I feel my batteries recharging. His curiosity and thought process ignite my own sense of wonder, bringing fresh perspectives into life and its challenges. All this, and his smiles, provide me with a much-needed reset.
