Leo Burnett India goes hyperlocal, launches LB Regional to help brands maximise reach

Mumbai: Publicis Groupe owned Leo Burnett India has announced the launch of LB regional-a specialised division that aims to help brands maximise their reach with national audiences by understanding region-wise insights. LB regional will help brands create localised content to build relevance with national audiences.

Often, marketing campaigns miss cultural nuances and appropriate generalised stereotypes of different communities. Leo Burnett Regional aims to break this cycle and help brands create region-appropriate content by bringing in experts from each region, making content more relatable and relevant. The specialised division currently focuses on five key languages-Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi, and Bengali-and has a team of creatives and writers who are experts in each of them.

“To succeed in today’s times, brands need to win in regions, not just nationally,” said Leo Burnett South Asia CEO and BBH India chairman Dheeraj Sinha, speaking about the launch of the division. “Often, brands have opportunities or problems that are typical of certain regions. We have to deploy region-up thinking, using insights from that region’s context, to be able to solve these. Also, there is a growing demand for local, vernacular, Indianised content, which, if done right, presents a big opportunity for brands to grow their audiences.”

“With this in mind, we have created this division which helps brands think and create regional-level solutions. We have already created local level interventions for some brands and have seen great results in going region-up rather than national-down in our thinking and creation,” he added.

The strategy and thinking is backed by an in-depth quantitative survey undertaken by Leo Burnett India, spanning across ten states (Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Kerala, and Delhi), with 2,805 respondents across different age groups (18-30, 31-45, and 45+ age groups). The survey covers attitudes and sentiments across seven categories: food, mobility, finance, life motivations and relationships, health, and fashion.

Domino’s faces FSSAI heat as viral video raises question mark on its hygiene standards

Mumbai: Days after a Twitter user posted a video allegedly showing poor hygienic practises followed at a Domino’s outlet in Bengaluru, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has swung into action. The authorities on Wednesday issued a spot memo to food business operators seeking an explanation regarding “unhygienic food handling practices” at the pizza outlet reported in the complaint.

An improvement notice was also issued based on “inspection observations” which are to be complied with within 15 days, reported news agency ANI. Further necessary action will be taken against the multinational pizza restaurant chain by the designated officer (state licensing), Bangalore Urban District, as per the provisions under the FSS Act upon receipt of the explanation, said ANI in a tweet.

    :

The FSSAI crackdown comes on the back of a complaint raised by a Twitter user against alleged unhygienic practises being followed at the pizza brand’s outlet. The user had posted a picture last month, allegedly of a Domino’s outlet in Bengaluru, showing a mop and a toilet brush hanging in close proximity above the pizza dough.

The user who identifies himself as an IT graduate wrote: This is how @dominos_india serves us fresh Pizza! Very disgusted. Location: Bangalore.

He also tagged the FSSAI, the ministry of Health, the Karnataka health minister, and the union health minister.

The Twitter user named Sahil Karnany followed it up with a video on 14 August, captioning the tweet, “Here is the video of the scene.”

The tweet soon became viral, with several other netizens responding to it, some of them sharing their own bad experiences with the pizza brand.

Soon after, the FSSAI took notice of the tweet. Responding to Karnany’s tweet on Tuesday, the official Twitter handle of the agency wrote, “FSSAI has taken note of the incident. The response of the FBO has been sought and appropriate action shall be taken in the matter as per the regulatory provisions under the FSS Act, 2006.”

Meanwhile, Domino’s India has issued an official statement saying the brand adheres to “world-class protocols for ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and food safety.”

“An incident involving one of our stores was recently brought to our notice. We want to assert that this is an isolated incident, and we have taken the strictest action against the restaurant in question. Please be informed that we have zero tolerance for violations of our high safety standards,” the pizza restaurant chain further stated.

  • Google Pay tops the chart among e-wallets app users at 38%, followed by Amazon Pay & Paytm: WATPapers

Google Pay tops the chart among e-wallets app users at 38%, followed by Amazon Pay & Paytm: WATPapers

Mumbai: WATConsult, the hybrid digital agency from Dentsu Creative India, has released the latest issue of its monthly WATPapers. Titled ‘Digital Transactions in India’, the report is by WATConsult’s research division, Recogn. The report shares insights on the increase in online businesses and purchases, changes in the process of making payments, and the migration of people from cash to digital transactions.

According to the report, the majority of respondents prefer to use digital payment systems like e-wallets and UPI. Apart from that, they have also used credit cards and net banking to complete transactions. It is worth noting that, while 46 per cent of males prefer e-wallets, the majority of females prefer UPI to transact. Furthermore, many youngsters in the age group of 18 to 24 years prefer using UPI and e-wallets.

The report further reveals that among the e-wallet app users, Google Pay (38 per cent) tops the chart, followed by Amazon Pay (37 per cent), Paytm (36 per cent), and Freecharge (32 per cent). While female users choose to use Google Pay, male users prefer using Amazon Pay, Paytm, and Google Pay. In small metropolitan areas, users prefer to use JioPay, Google Pay, and WhatsApp to transact.

Users favour e-wallets owing to the need to switch to a digital payment system and reduce cash transactions. These apps are convenient since they are easy to use and access. Additionally, users also get discounts or cashback on using them, along with some special benefits from specific retailers as well.

“Mobile payments, especially mobile wallets, have been a great driver towards this phenomenon and revolution on a global basis,” said Isobar India group CEO Heeru Dingra, commenting on the latest issue of WATPapers. “Gradually, India is moving toward a cashless economy, which explains the increasing trend of using digital payments systems extensively. The government, under the programme of digital India, has been encouraging and promoting the use of e-wallets via UPI.”

“The UPI platform has witnessed a leap in adoption at a phenomenal growth rate as a payments product across the country. There have been many merchants and businesses in the digital as well as offline ecosystems that have integrated the options of e-wallet apps and UPI for customers’ convenience and ease of transaction. This has positively influenced the country’s mobile wallet market,” she added.

WATConsult managing partner Sahil Shah said, “In the emerging markets, e-wallet apps have garnered much more attention compared to other forms of payment systems. Digital payment adoption is growing, and the onset of the pandemic has created a need for contactless payments in everyday life. The need for digital payments and the rise in the frequency of usage of e-wallets during the pandemic have been evident. There was a change in the behaviour of consumers during the pandemic which had a direct impact on the retail and e-commerce sectors.”

For the record, WATPapers are monthly published short reports based on the primary research conducted by Recogn, the agency’s research division that provides consumer and business insights to the audience. It aims to delve into the different aspects of the digital industry, consumer behaviour, and more.

  • India at 75: Brands pay an ode to the nation

India at 75: Brands pay an ode to the nation

Mumbai: As the country gears up to celebrate its 76th Independence Day, marking 75 years of the country’s independence from British rule, brands go all out, wearing their patriotic hearts on their logo-emblazoned sleeves in a bid to connect with their consumers. From campaigns that celebrate our nation’s diversity, to videos that convey heart-warming narratives and an awareness of financial independence, to shedding light on social issues, this year’s Independence Day communications are filled with messages of hope and empathy, along with pride.

Here are a bunch of campaigns and initiatives that stood out to us:

JSW Paints added colour to India’s Independence Day celebrations with a film that drives home the brand’s promise – “Thoughtful is Beautiful.” Conceptualised by TBWAIndia, the film captures India’s struggle and India’s originality in the same breath. Taking on a challenge that most Indian neighbourhoods face – a problem that no amount of fines, warnings, or well-intended public advisory has been able to solve. Until JSW Paints decided to change the canvas of solutions and presented a bright new answer in blazing tricolour.

Ahead of the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day, Godrej Group released #SoundsOfMakingIndia, the sequel to its Independence Day campaign from 2019, that captured all the industrial sounds that signify progress in the manufacturing ecosystem. The film narrates the story of the Godrej Group’s journey of being an integral part of our nation’s progress while integrating the different businesses of the national brand.

HDFC Mutual Fund has extended its #BarniSeAzadi campaign (first launched in 2021) to promote financial independence for women. Through this campaign, the company urges women to free their money from traditional savings methods and invest in mutual funds (MFs), so as to give their hard-earned money a chance to grow. The campaign is based on the insight that Indians have always saved money in traditional instruments like “Barnis”, pickle jars, lockers, FDs, etc.

Furthermore, HDFC Mutual Fund is organising a unique outdoor activity wherein a gigantic barni will be installed near Mumbai’s Carter Road from 13 to 15 August, where the company will take a pledge from women to not put their money in barnis anymore and use the suitable instrument to grow their money.

Robin Hood Army (RHA), a zero-funds volunteer organisation that works towards getting surplus food from restaurants and communities to the plates of those less fortunate, has teamed up with media conglomerate ABP Network for Mission75 on India’s 76th Independence Day, where they are serving 75 lakh meals across India. To start conversations about the initiative and the sad reality millions of Indians face, the NGO has partnered with a creative agency, The Minimalist.

Based on the topic that never goes out of trend, weight loss, The Minimalist conceptualised a clever, provocative film-#KhaaliThaali. The film utilises ‘Khaali Thaali’, a simple tool to depict the brutal reality of many Indians, and delivers a hard-hitting message.

The static posts were disguised to look like ads for people who have experienced transformative weight loss, only to reveal the grim reality of how they did not have a choice in the matter.

LAFZ is a culturally conscious, Halal certified brand headquartered in Singapore and a part of global FMCG conglomerate Believe PTE. To mark the occasion, the brand has released a video that’s a tribute to India’s 76th Independence. The idea was inspired by a famous Islamic saying, “Hubbul Watan Minal Iman,” which means “Loving one’s own homeland is a part of faith.” The video was conceptualised internally by the team. The film reaffirms that love for one’s homeland is unconditional and unbiased, irrespective of religion, colour, caste, and societal status.

    Watch the video here –

Looking back to the unprecedented time when covid-19 outbreak brought the world to a standstill, and our  defence and police forces stayed on duty, regardless of the deadly pandemic, Hamdard Laboratories launched a national campaign ‘SEHAT HAI TOH WATAN HAI’, paying homage to their valiance. As the eight-month-long campaign launched on 26 January approaches its culmination on India’s 76th Independence, Hamdard celebrated the health of India with multiple activities across its wellness centres from 10 – 14 August 2022. The brand has conducted 75 health camps and touched more than 15,000 lives of brave heroes.

  • Weekend Unwind with: Sumit Garg, MD & co-founder of Luxury Ride

Weekend Unwind with: Sumit Garg, MD & co-founder of Luxury Ride

Mumbai: Indiantelevision.com rolls over to the next in its weekend series of informal snippets that peek into the minds of corporate executives. “Weekend Unwind” is an attempt to get to know the person behind the title a little better by having them share their life nuggets and mantras for dealing with life’s curveballs.

This week, we have on the hot seat Sumit Garg, the MD & co-founder of Luxury Ride—”India’s biggest pre-owned luxury car company.” Born into a business family, the path to entrepreneurship was always a given, says Garg. Accordingly, in keeping with the ‘family tradition’, he founded KoiBhiCar.com, an online marketplace for pre-owned luxury cars, in 2012, while straight out of engineering college. Garg shifted his business to an offline model in 2015 after a quick realisation about the industry and founded Luxury Ride with two friends. Here, his prime focus is the exponential expansion of the company across India. Today, the company has a presence in seven cities across north India – Delhi, Gurugram, Karnal, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Dehradun, and Ludhiana.

So here goes without further ado…

    Your mantra for Life

Follow your passion in such a way that you don’t need an alarm clock to wake you up.

A Book you are currently reading / plan to read

Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter.

Your Fitness mantra, especially during the pandemic

We had set up a home gym during the pandemic, and I was doing rigorous workouts. I kept my eating and sleeping habits in check too. By the end of the pandemic, I had lost around 15 kg. Indulging in some sort of exercise keeps me in a healthy mental space as well.

    Your comfort food

I am a die-hard foodie, so it’s very difficult for me to answer this question as I am spoilt for choice. But if I had to choose one, then I would have to say Italian cuisine is my comfort food.

When the chips are down a quote/ philosophy that keeps you going

My teacher once told me that if you want to be successful in life, you have to take risks no matter what. Setbacks are a part of the deal, but if the risk pays off, your life will change. As Swami Vivekananda said, “Take risks: if you win, you will be happy; if you lose, you will be wise.”

    Your guilty pleasure

    Sweet dishes

When was the last time you tried something new?

I love to discover new things on a regular basis. And, it doesn’t have to be extraordinary. It can be in the form of meeting new groups of people and learning new things; implementing new things in my work life; or trying out different cuisines.

A Life lesson you learnt the hard way

That you should do away with incompetent people as soon as possible. Having the right circle of people around you matters the most, as it helps you grow in life.

What gets you excited about life?

Exploring  new places and living a luxurious lifestyle.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

Right now the only thing that is on top of my bucket list is to make Luxury Ride a unicorn brand.

If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?

Always follow your passion and don’t listen to naysayers. Your comfort zone is your enemy, you will have sleepless nights, there will be days where you’ll have to work when you are unwell, you’ll be skipping meals and working throughout the day. But that is part of the process if you want to be successful in life.

An activity that keeps you motivated / charged during tough times

Whenever I am faced with tough times I either go out for long drives.. Physical activities like playing Squash and Table tennis or having a great workout session keeps me motivated as well.

What lifts your spirits when life gets you down?

That has to be Music, I am an audiophile and listening to music can lift my spirits up no matter how tough the situation is.

    Your go-to stress buster

My kids and my family are my go-to stress busters. Spending time with them relieves me from all the stress that I am facing.

One thing you would most like to change about the world

That has to be poverty, I believe that there should not be such a big gap between the rich and the poor.

Mumbai: Porter has introduced its first brand campaign, “Delivery Hai? Ho Jayega,” which addresses issues with item shipping and guarantees its top-notch service for the convenience of customers.

The “Delivery Hai? Ho Jayega” campaign is focused on Porter’s dedication to reliability, superior products, and a wide range of services.

Conceptualised and created by 22feet tribal worldwide and produced by Equinox production, the campaign will be promoted across digital and social platforms, as well as through OOH and truck/auto advertising, as well as some future print media promotion.

The campaign highlights consumers’ heartfelt experiences using Porter’s service to send anything, anywhere, at any time with just two words of assurance: #HoJayega. It is intended for people in the 25 to 60 age range, SMEs, microbusinesses, and owners or key decision-makers of logistics needs.

Porter will also run a campaign extension titled “Heroes of Ho Jayega,” which will highlight notable driver-partners for their tremendous support and professionalism.

The digital film illustrates a typical delivery scenario with traditional consumer groups. The film emphasises that whether it’s a single spoon or a whole set of utensils, a teddy bear on a scooter, or the scooter itself, buying anything without hesitation comes with Porter’s service.

With this development, Porter hopes to draw attention to its sizable fleet of vehicles, which includes two-wheelers and light commercial vehicles (LCVs), establish the brand as an integrated delivery solution, and position itself as a one-stop delivery shop for its clients.

Porter  co-founder & CEO Pranav Goel said, “It has been eight years since we started our journey to ensure seamless delivery for our consumers. Starting off with just trucks, we have expanded our mode of delivery with tempos, two-wheelers, and EVs. Our promise to all our consumers is simple: with Porter, you can deliver anything, anywhere, anytime. Porter hai, ho jayega!”

22feet Tribal Worldwide national creative director Vishnu Srivatsav added, “We wanted to show Porter’s capabilities, its ubiquity, and its range. We were sure that this film should be unique, entertaining, and fun-filled rather than a typical product film. Hence, we thought of creating this film as an entertaining one with an embedded brand promise. Ho Jayega is a simple yet powerful promise that very much lives in culture, and more than anything else, this as an expression best captured Porter’s intent.”

Porter has served more than 80 lakh customers by offering them simple delivery solutions and a guaranteed affordable, secure, and hassle-free service. Entrepreneurs and individuals dealing with heavy items such as mattresses as well as delicate items such as ceramic and glass products can rely on Porter’s service to deliver the consignment.
