    MUMBAI: ‘Platinum EVARA’, the bridal jewellery collection, has been bestowed with the “Brand of the year 2016-17 – The Emerging No. 1 in the Jewellery Category” award, at the Pride of India Awards.

    The brand was felicitated with this honour by the World Consulting and Research Company (WCRC), which is Asia’s leading research and consulting firm. Through intensive primary and secondary research WCRC – has brought forth all brands that are going to be the ‘next big thing’ in their respective categories.

    Competing in this category with Platinum EVARA for the “Brand of the Year – Emerging no.1 Brands” were brands such as PC Chandra, Tanishq, PN Gadgil and Lumineux.

    The selection process was based on an exhaustive and in depth survey mapping of elements like brand promise/ growth, reach, year-on-year growth, penetration, goodwill, recall, and market acceptance etc. Finally, the number was shortlisted to 100 brands, before concluding on the final winner.

    Research has shown that there is a 55% awareness and a 31% purchase intent for EVARA amongst target audience over the last two years. Consumers identify with platinum as a clear symbol of love and see the metal as stylish, precious and attractive.

    MUMBAI: Footwear major Relaxo has undertaken a rebranding exercise mandating Elephant Designs with the job.

    Explaining the reasons behind the rebranding intent of the 40-odd-year-old brand, Relaxo Footwear executive director Gaurav Dua said that it was their responsibility to build a future-ready brand. They were an ever-evolving brand that stayed true to the core values of being reliable.

    With the rebranding exercise, they infused youthful and transformational spirit that was important for the growth of internal and external stakeholders of the brand. Elephant, the brand building partners, played a significant role by understanding the brand’s value proposition, Dua added.

    Elephant co-founder & director Ashwini Deshpande said that Relaxo rebranding exercise involved validation of current values of being approachable while seeking newer dimensions to reiterate the brand’s leadership. Elephant built the new Relaxo visual identity with a wave of positive transformation. Brand’s dynamism was embodied by forward slanting letters in Berry Blue with Sunny Yellow swoosh flowing across.

    The swoosh stands for wave of transformation, optimism and positive growth. All brand applications were being created with an ownable visual language and would be evident soon, she added.

However, in the Kite 2017, Telangana State’s 2nd International Kite Festival, which will be held from 12 – 17 January in Hyderabad, is going to introduce ‘Remote controlled kites’ which will be flown for the first time in India.

    PV Sindhu, Telangana state icon, first Indian woman to win an Olympics silver medal will be the face of the festival.

    Remote controlled kite flying is something revolutionary that has not been witnessed much in India. The joy of remote control kite flying offers altogether a new experience; first time to Indians disclosed Aga Khan Academy head Geoffrey Fisher. These kites will fly at a special night flying curtain raiser event at People’s Plaza in Hyderabad on Thursday.

    “This is something revolutionary—the joy of remote controlled kite flying offers a new experience altogether for Indians, as they are not dependent on wind but instead use propellers powered by rechargeable batteries,” Fisher disclosed.

    KITE 2017 festival is organised for the cause of women’s empowerment through girl child education. It aims to raise the tourism profile and rich cultural heritage of Hyderabad as a ‘hidden jewel’ of India by attracting renowned international kite flyers from 16 countries and 10 pan Indian clubs to Telangana State.

    International teams from 17 countries and 10 pan-Indian kite flying clubs to provide electrifying demonstrations throughout the week.

    MUMBAI: 9XM, the popular Bollywood music platform, gas recreated the iconic Pond’s Cold Cream tune ‘Googly Woogly Wooksh’. This popular jingle has been done as a music video by 9XM for Pond’s cold cream, a Unilever brand.

    The new rendition has been sung by popular Bollywood singers Monali Thakur and Armaan Malik. They are also featuring in the music video composed by Jeet Gannguli while Swanand Kirkire has penned its lyrics.

    The music video is airing on 9XM and is being broadcast across the Channel’s YouTube and other social media platforms.

    The ‘Googly Woogly Wooksh’ music video exclusively launched on 9XM is part of the brand integration campaign by 9X Media’s Audience Brand Connect (ABC) division.

    9X Media chief revenue officer Pawan Jailkhani said, “The ‘Googly Woogly Wooksh’ video has received an overwhelming response from the viewers with over 2.5 million YouTube views in just a couple of days.”

    BENGALURU: Indian eCommerce major Flipkart said that sales on its platform were led by shoppers from the NCR region closely followed by metros Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad in 2016 in its annual #FlipTrends2016 report. Among the tier-2 cities, Guwahati and Jorhat in North East India were first time entrants to the top gainers list; amongst other tier 2 cities Mysore, Salem, and Tirupur from South India led sales in the smartphones category. South India emerged yet again as the most tech-savvy region, accounting for over 35 per cent sales, while North stood at 28 per cent, West at 22 per cent, and East India at 15 per cent.

    Flipkart Head – Mobiles Ajay Yadav said, “The popularity of smartphones in India, as clearly indicated by #FlipTrends, highlight the shift consumers are making towards 4G enabled smartphones. Today consumers are opting for brands and models that could not just offer them the features, but were smart on the pocket as well.”

    Yadav further added, “More of our customers are choosing Flipkart as their preferred platform of choice when it comes to shopping for mobiles. Industry-first innovations such as No Cost EMI and Easy Product Exchange, along with exclusive brand partnerships and flash sales, have helped us to maintain the market leadership in this segment.”

    The IOT category of smart bands and smart watches saw tremendous growth of over 500 per cent from 2015 reveals the report. Top sellers in this category were Apple, Motorola, and Samsung.

    Attributing more than 50 per cent of its sales to mobile phones because of affordable 4G smartphones from national and international brands, the report says that the smartphones category in India continues to be one of the most hotly contested arenas in online shopping. Redmi 3S Prime, Redmi Note 3, Moto E 3 Power, and Lenovo K5 and Samsung J5 were the top 5 bestselling mobile phones of the year says the seven point annual report. Lenovo, MI, Samsung, Motorola, and LeEco remained the most favourite brands.

    Analysing online shopping of over 10 crore or 100 million customers across India, #FlipTrends2016 recorded data collected from online shoppers over 2016 across all Flipkart-owned platforms.
