    It’s all FMCG brands among top 10 TV advertisers in week one of 2017

    BENGALURU: Hindustan Lever Limited (Lever) brands led the FMCG brands with a massive 96,682 television advertisement insertions (36.03 percent of the total insertions by top 10 advertisers). The total number of television ad insertions by the top10 brands in week 1 of 2017 (Saturday, 31 December 2016 to Friday 6 January 2017) was 268,323 as Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) data for top 10 advertisers Across Genre: All India (U+R): 4+ Individuals. All the companies among the top 10 television advertisers were FMCG players. The total number of insertions by the top 10 advertisers in week 1 was 3.22 percent more than the 259,961 insertions in week 52 of 2016. Lever’s ad insertions in week 1 increased 11.36 percent from 86,819 in the previous week.

    Besides Lever being mentioned in the list of top 10 advertisers in terms of insertions, BARC has also mentioned some of its subsidiary/brands separately in the lists, including Brooke Bond Lipton India Ltd, Ponds India. Similarly, Godrej companies Godrej Consumer Products Ltd andGodrej Sara Lee Ltd find places at eighth and tenth spots with 11,792 (4.39 percent of total) and 11,471 (4.25 percent) insertions respectively.

    At second place and trailing far behind was Reckitt Benckiser (India) Ltd with 29,538 (11.01 percent) of insertions. PatanjaliAyurved Limited (Payanjali), which had stood at number 2 for the last four weeks of 2016, was placed third in week 1 of 2017 with 29,538 (10.82 percent) insertions, 13.05 percent lower than the 33,381 insertions in week 52 of 2016.

    MUMBAI: Gionee clocks 1.20 cr customers in India and announced ace cricketer and the captain of the Indian Cricket Team Virat Kohli as their new brand ambassador.

    Kohli will soon be seen in the upcoming campaign of Gionee, and will also be actively involved in a host of innovative marketing and customer experience initiatives of the brand. Gionee had roped in actor Alia Bhatt as it’s brand ambassador a few months ago and he is joining her in helping the brand touch new heights.

    The company grew twice as much as the last fiscal year and has ambitious targets for this year as well. It undertook several strategic steps in recent times to further consolidate it’s position. It rolled out a global re-branding exercise with a new logo and tagline, “Make Smiles” along with signing on an MoU to put up it’s own manufacturing unit in India.

    The association with Virat Kohli will further enable the brand to carry forward it’s high decibel visibility and connect.

    On the partnership, Gionee India country CEO and MD Arvind.R Vohra said “ India is one of the fastest growing young economies in the world and Gionee takes immense pride in having India’s biggest youth icons Virat Kohli and Alia Bhatt as its brand endorsers.     MUMBAI: Discovery Channel in association with Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) organised an event in New Delhi to celebrate the culmination of its journey across 29 states. Cruising around in a Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, covering over 28,000 kilometers, the epic-journey entitled #Indiamyway was captured by Discovery cameras and was televised on the network.

    A showreel presenting the best-off moments of the journey was screened at the event. On this occasion, Discovery also released a DVD pack of the television series unveiled MSIL executive director – marketing and sales R S Kalsi, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific VP advertising sales (south Asia) Karamjit Dua, and Meraj Shah, actor and presenter of the series.

    The 13-part series which aired on Discovery, travelled across India in search of young Indians, their passion and their continual quest for the unusual, glamourous and adventurous side of life. The series was hosted by Paloma Monappa, an actor and avid traveler, and Shah, a travel writer, who went on a road trip for an exploration of a ‘New India’. They introduced viewers to a range of fun, eclectic characters ranging from celebrities, tribal fashionistas, women wrestlers, young scientists, tattoo artists, path breaking entrepreneurs and many others.

    Kalsi said, “It has been a matter of immense pride for the two pioneering brands – Maruti Suzuki and Discovery to collaborate and explore the new-age India.” Dua said, “Discovery offers captivating and incomparable blend of programmes that stimulate viewers’ mind. #Indiamyway has been our endeavor to showcase the immense talent, passion and changing aspirations of the millennials in the country.” Shah said, “I have been travelling for years, however, this road trip was unique and invigorating.”
