Cricket fans from Argentina to Hungary will now be able to watch the T20 stars in action starting with Trinbago Knight Riders clash with St. Lucia Zouks from the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad on Wednesday, 29 June (9pm Caribbean / 2am GMT / 6.30am India) and running through to the final in St. Kitts & Nevis on 7 August.

Commenting on using Facebook Live, CPL chief operations officer Pete Russell said: “We are delighted to announce how we’re using Facebook Live, which we believe has the potential to change the face of cricket broadcasting and enhance the CPL’s ever-increasing international audience.”

Caroline Smith, CPL’s Head of Digital, and her team have done a fantastic job with our social media activity and this deal proves that they have put us ahead of the curve in understanding how best to reach our global fans with live games” added Russel.

Twitter launches #Stickers as visual hashtags connecting photos

MUMBAI: Twitter has announced fun photo editing tool #Stickers. Users can choose from hundreds of accessories, emojis, and props and stick them anywhere on photos they upload to Twitter.

When editing a photo, a library of stickers will be available across several categories, including accessories, animals, food, technology, flags, etc. Like hashtags on Twitter, the stickers will make tweeting easy for people to explore a topic they’re interested in, and join in on the public, global conversation.

The stickers can be resized, rotated and placed anywhere on a photo.

“Millions of Tweets with photos are sent every day on Twitter, capturing the moments that the world is talking about,” said Twitter CMOLeslie Berland. “#Stickers give people a fun way to add their own unique style to their photos, and connect them with others around the world. By making stickers searchable like hashtags, we’re enabling the best of Twitter: making it easy for people to create conversations around events and experiences that are happening right now.”

Any public Tweet containing a sticker will now be easily searchable and discoverable, creating a new visual spin on the hashtag; simply tapping on a sticker brings up a new timeline of Tweets from people around the world using that same sticker.

The featured category will highlight live stickers tied to world events, holidays or other themes, making it easy for people to join in on timely conversations. A timeline of Tweets using a specific sticker is easily accessible by tapping on that sticker within any photo on Twitter.

The feature is rolling out over the coming weeks on Twitter for iOS and Android.

    Instagram crosses 500 million members

MUMBAI: Facebook announced yesterday at Cannes that its Instagram community has grown to more than 500 million (50 crore), of which more than 300 million use Instagram every single day. Facebook claimed that Instagram’s community continued to become even more global, with more than 80 percent living outside of the United States.

While thanking its community, an Instagram blog message said, “As you’ve captured and shared the moments happening around you, you’ve formed incredibly varied and diverse communities. Whether you’re an illustrator, a sneakerhead or an astronaut on the International Space Station, every photo and video you share helps bring people closer to friends and interests, broadens perspectives and inspires a sense of wonder. Facebook announces four solutions for mobile advertisers at Cannes Lions

MUMBAI: Yesterday at the Cannes Lions, Facebook announced four new solutions that make it easier for advertisers to share their messages across mobile platforms. With more than 1.5 billion people accessing Facebook from mobile devices and more than 1 billion people using Facebook on mobile everyday, the Facebook family has more mobile engagement than any other platform.

    Facebook’s announcements include:

The launch of a Creative Hub, where the creative community can learn and build on mobile. Facebook claims that this new, online interface will be a sandbox where agencies can play with different ad formats for online and mobile and experiment with what works best. Most ad creation happens on desktop but is experienced on mobile. The Creative Hub gives ad creators an easy way to preview their work in a dynamic mobile feed. They can also share these mock-ups with stakeholders through a preview URL. The Creative Hub will also provide inspiration with an easy-to-navigate repository of case studies and great content. The Creative Hub is now in testing and should be available to everyone in the next few months.

Introduction of an Audience Insights API in beta, to help businesses build better insights to fuel campaigns. Facebook says that it is currently working with the creative community on how to reach better insights through the Audience Insights API. As part of the beta program, Facebook has partnered with a small group of advertisers like Mondelez International and Anheuser-Busch InBev.

Updates to Canvas ads that make it easier for marketers to design, create, share and gain insights. Advertisers can now share their Canvases with stakeholders to simplify the review process. Coming toward the end of this month, Canvas will have a new feed unit to help entice people to engage. Plus, Canvas will be available for all Pages to use in a post (even when it’s not promoted as an ad). Also, marketers will be able to access detailed metrics such as dwell time per component and clicks per component to track Canvas performance.

Enhancements to Slideshow ads that make it easy for businesses to create videos from photos. Enhancements to Slideshow include audio and text overlay, an easy ‘video-to-slideshow’ creation tool, the ability to create slideshow from a mobile device and integration with Pages Photo Library and Shutterstock stock image library. This means small businesses without any production resources can create, edit and boost customised slideshows using existing photos from their Page or any of thousands of Facebook’s stock images. Facebook says that these tools are coming at the end of the month to all advertisers and can be used however they would use a video (across Facebook and Instagram).

Facebook also announced that there were now more than 500 million (50 crore) users on Instagram.

GroupDrop Online launches social e-commerce portal in india

MUMBAI: Doing It Together has always been an entertaining affair. From picnics to assignments to sharing quality time with family, all of us have memories of doing unforgettable things together. These memories are hitched with us forever and are cherished for a lifetime. Inspired from this feeling of doing it together, GroupDrop Online has launched first of its kind social e-commerce portal in India with an aim to bring a change on how consumers perceive and buy products of their choice online. GroupDrop aims at leveraging the power of community purchase by bringing the like-minded consumers together and buy products at the best possible price.

The idea came to Gaurav Kapadia when he heard of a group of people in India who bought 150 high end luxury cars together at a discounted rate. This was such a big announcement that the CEO of the luxury car brand went down along with his senior management team to hand over the keys to the buyers. Gaurav soon roped in Shyam Gursahani and both of them then developed a business model to help like-minded people to meet with one another, on a common platform, share opinions and buy the products of their choice at an irresistible price. The portal will be dealing with wide range of products across automobile, audio, gaming and photography genres.

Speaking on the launch, GroupDrop director Shyam Gursahani said, “This is a proud moment for both Gaurav and I. We aim to connect people with similar likes and provide them with a common platform, where they can discuss all the pros and cons before buying a product. We want to leverage the power of the people in community purchase. This will help us become the preferred space to help consumers buy what they need and not what is offered at the best price, and promote the experience of #DoingItTogether.”

GroupDrop aims to grow and offer more choices to the customers. All products on GroupDrop are chosen, created, or inspired by people, which are called ‘drops’. Consumers can search for products they want, and discuss and vote for the products they would like to buy. Once the consumer decides what product they’d like to buy together, GroupDrop contacts the vendor directly on behalf of them to get a great group discount, and allows the consumer to buy the product by joining the drop.
