  • Zee Media receives board approval to bid for RBNL

    Mumbai: Zee Media Corporation Limited (ZMCL) has received approval from its board to take part in the bidding process to buy Reliance Broadcast Network Limited (RBNL).

    In a regulatory filing, Zee Media said, “The Board of Directors of the Company, vide Resolution passed by circulation on May 5, 2023, have granted the approval to the Company to submit Expression of Interest (‘EOI’) with Corporate Insolvency Resolution Professional (‘CIRP’) of Reliance Broadcast Network Limited (‘RBNL’) in relation to the “Invitation for Expression of Interest for Submission of Resolution Plan for Reliance Broadcast Network Limited” issued by CIRP appointed in terms of the extant provisions for Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process of RBNL.” 

    RBNL operates radio stations under the Big FM brand. It has reportedly been put under the corporate insolvency process by the National Company Law Tribunal. An advertisement has been issued seeking expressions of interest from interested entities.

  • Thug Invitational Season 6: India’s top gamers compete for Rs 2,00,000 prize pool

    Mumbai: Thug Invitational Season 6, the country’s foremost Road To Valor tournament with a whopping prize pool of Rs 2,00,000 is all set to kick off today.   • Amazon miniTV and Meta join hands for a unique entertainment collaboration

    Mumbai: Amazon miniTV – Amazon’s free video streaming service available on the Amazon shopping app and Fire TV, has joined hands with Meta, for a unique partnership where creators will not only promote upcoming shows from the streaming service but also feature in a few of them.

    In recognition of the way creators are at the forefront of pushing culture forward, Amazon miniTV has partnered with Meta’s ‘Born on Instagram’ program. As a part of this, a select group of popular creators will collaborate and create content around the key shows from the streaming service. The partnership began with a collaboration with creators for the Suniel Shetty action series ‘Hunter – Tootega Nahi Todega’. The actor collaborated with the Norwegian dance group Quickstyle on their maiden visit to India, which resulted in over 4 million plays on Instagram Reels.   • India dominates South Asia CS:GO qualifiers, secures spot in Asian qualifiers

    Mumbai: Effortlessly navigating their way through the South Asian regional qualifiers, India’s CS:GO team showcased a dominant combination of high-quality gameplay and supreme skills to overpower Pakistan and Nepal on the final day and qualify for the Asian qualifiers which are set to held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from July 10-17, 2023.

    Comprising team captain Harsh Jain (f1redup), Jaspreet Singh (SpawN), Sadab Khan (SK wow^), Piyush Kalwania (clouda), Nikhil Kathe (N1kace) and substitute Omkar Thube (omkar09), the proficient team began the qualifiers with a bang by putting up comprehensive performance to take down Bangladesh with a 16-9 win and Sri-Lanka with a 16-8 victory on the opening day.

    The team then continued their momentum on the second day and recorded a 16-5 win against Nepal followed by a 16-6 triumph against Pakistan. Team captain Harsh was instrumental in India’s monumental victories throughout the qualifiers and led his side by example by notably notching a total of 29 kills against Bangladesh and 31 kills against Nepal.

    “Qualifying for the Asian qualifiers and representing India as well as the country’s CS:GO community is an incredible accomplishment for all of us. I am really happy that we finished at the top in the South Asian Regionals by beating each and every team. This is the result of months of extensive practice sessions, strategic planning, and careful analysis of our competitors. The competition will undoubtedly be fierce as we’ll be facing off against some of the best teams from Asia but we feel that we’re ready for it. We can’t wait to compete, and give our best to qualify for the World Esports Championships in Iasi,” said  Indian CS:GO team captain Harsh Jain.

    The skilled team had secured their maiden qualification at the South Asian regional qualifiers by triumphing over Team Wicked Gaming in the finals of the National Esports Championships (NESC) 2023, conducted by the Esports Federation of India (ESFI) earlier this year. They will now battle it out against top CS:GO teams from Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to qualify for the 15 World Esports Championships in Iasi from August 24 – September 4, 2023.

    With a whopping prize pool of $500,000 (INR 4.12 crore), the 15 World Esports Championship 2023 is set to be the largest edition of the tournament to date with at least 130 countries participating in eFootball, DOTA 2, Tekken7, Mobile Legends, PUBG: Mobile and CS:GO.

    “We are extremely proud of our CS:GO team for making it to the Asian qualifiers. The journey here has been tough, but the hard work and dedication of our players have paid off. They have put in countless hours of practice and have shown incredible resilience and determination in their stunning victories against the top teams from South Asia.     India’s first-ever female esports team (CS:GO) comprising Swayambika Sachar (Sway), Shagufta Iqbal (xyaa), Nidhi Salekar (Stormyyy), Dilraj Kaur Matharu (COCO), and Aastha Nangia (CrackShot) shall be playing their South Asian Qualifiers against Sri Lanka on 11 May and Team India (DOTA) will kick off their South Asian Qualifiers from 15 May onwards.

    The 15th World Esports Championships will be featuring well-renowned Tekken 7 professional Abhinav Tejan, and eFootball athlete Ibrahim Gulrez representing the country at the prestigious tournament.

    On the evolution and journey of Cybeart

    Our journey started amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. We saw that due to remote working, people were experiencing issues from spending long hours in front of their computers, which gave us the idea to develop ergonomic chairs to solve this problem. Cybeart was founded and established in Toronto, Canada, after extensive R&D for at least 10 months. We have been fighting all odds and expanding our business. The premium quality of our products gave us the opportunity to partner with Warner Bros to build licensed products around their IPs and we also launched the world’s first DC Comics Chairs Collection.

    Soon after, we were approached by a distributor from the Middle East and after a few months of due diligence, we signed an agreement with them and entered the MENA region. We are now planning to aggressively capture the Indian market and promote our premium products to potential customers here.     As an entrepreneur and business person, each market has equal significance, however, Canada is surely significant for me, as that is where I started my journey and currently, I am eyeing to expand in the premium market of India.

    Being a digital-first e-commerce brand, we cater and ship to all parts of India. We have seen tremendous responses from cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Noida and many more addressing the tier I and tier II markets of India.

    We did our research, to understand the market and measure its potential for growth, and took insights into target customers’ preferences, buying patterns, shifting trends and the action plans to sustain. It was also important to analyze the willingness of potential customers to pay a premium price for such services, which is closely connected to their satisfaction and meeting their expectations. With a large portion of the population in India being between 20 and 34 years old, and increasing numbers of gamers and home-based workers, India became the ideal location to increase our business.

    On the risks, challenges, lessons and learnings of launching a product like a gaming chair in India especially

    In a price-sensitive market like India, it is tough to sell any premium product which ensures complete satisfaction in return. And gaming chairs are known to be expensive, which limits the appeal to the average customer. Also, one of the biggest roadblocks is a lack of awareness. It is only recently people are realizing the benefits of getting a proper chair for their own health benefit. Ensuring high durability as gaming chairs are often expected to be durable, and if the quality is not up to standard, it could damage the reputation of the brand.

    On understanding the business space and its prospects to expand in India

    Thanks to the booming gaming industry in the country, the gaming chair market in India is estimated to grow further. There has been a rise in the number of tournaments being organized and PC gaming has become increasingly popular in India due to the availability of a wide range of PC gaming hardware and accessories. The demand is on the rise not only due to the rise in popularity of gaming but also due to the boom in content creators/ influencers, and the popularity of podcasts and virtual chat shows which make it important to place a premium chair in order to leverage the aesthetics, thus increasing the demand of a premium gaming chair in the market.

    The gaming population in India is expected to reach 507M in FY22 and is forecast to reach 700M by 2025. Of this population, 45 per cent are full-time employed while 11 per cent are self-employed.     On Cybeart getting into mainstream sports via a successful partnership with MI and GT

    In India, we have signed a multi-year merchandise partnership with the IPL teams Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans. We were just entering the Indian market when they officially approached us and now we are the official Merchandise partner for both teams.

    We are offering premium products and since the time we launched our product, our aim was not to limit ourselves to the e-sports community. We vision it to turn into a choice of lifestyle. IPL is the most popular cricket league and with our team extensively working to establish the product image as a lifestyle brand and to achieve our goal, collaborations with franchise teams like Mumbai Indian and Gujarat Titans help differentiate us. We have a multi-year collaboration and now the products are being used by Cricketers in their team rooms, podcast shows and also in fan zones in stadiums which is promoting our image as a lifestyle brand.

    On the official merchandising partnership with Warner Bros

    We approached several top licensed companies and Warner Bros was among them who responded to us in two days’ time. Our conversations extended and proposals got a positive response, which ultimately resulted in a successful collaboration with them. This multi-year partnership between Cybeart and Warner Bros promises to provide fans and users with a comfortable experience through state-of-the-art chairs featuring iconic properties from DC Comics, Harry Potter, Tom & Jerry, F.R.I.E.N.D.S, Looney Tunes, and more. Our association with Warner Bros has shed light on the likes of the world’s first Lord of the Ring, Mortal Kombat chairs. With many more in the pipeline to become the world’s first in terms of product and IP.

    On your partnership with Revenant Esports and Orangutan Esports

    Exports in India have been on the rise, and this has primarily motivated us to get into the Indian market. For Cybeart, extending associations with leading e-sports organizations is imminent. We wanted to enter India’s business landscape through our partnership which entails us positioning our brand as India’s first premium gaming/office chair brand. We are proud to be associated with top teams who are champions in their respective divisions. Cybeart provides them with customized gaming chairs and gaming mouse pads too.

    On your vision and way forward for Cybeart in India

    We aim to become a leading supplier of ergonomic and comfortable chairs, committed to providing our customers with the highest quality, best value and most innovative products.
