    STAN recently reached a milestone by raising $2.7 million in Pre-Series A funding from major investors such as Aptos Labs, Pix Capital, Maelstrom Fund, GFR Fund, and General Catalyst. The recent funding from The New Capital, led by General Catalyst with participation from Better Capital and Eximius Ventures, will be strategically utilized to enhance our business. This investment will allow us to provide gamers with advanced tools to develop and monetize their content. These enhancements include digital collections, chat, social communities, and celebrity exclusives. This funding will allow STAN to continue to innovate and expand, ultimately providing a rich and enjoyable experience for our users.

    On synergies you anticipate from General Catalyst

    Having strong partners and investors like General Catalyst and Better Capital on board will further enhance STAN’s aspirations to create a superior fan experience and drive growth at various levels.     Mumbai: RisingWings, a creative studio of KRAFTON, Inc., has unveiled its June update for the popular real-time PvP tower defense mobile game, Defense Derby.

    Introducing the martial tiger

    This update introduces the martial tiger, a new physical-type unit from the beast faction. Martial tiger is a close-range area damage dealer with two special abilities called taeguk and roar of the lion. With taeguk, the critical damage increases, and upon reaching a certain level, it unleashes the Roar of the Lion, terrifying all monsters in the player’s lane for 1.5 seconds with a mighty roar, and resetting the accumulated critical damage. Martial Tiger can be acquired through the Martial Tiger Event, Featured Summon, and Step Up Pack. Players can try out the new unit through the Derby Brawl – Martial Tiger Mirror Match, available from 1 to 3 June, and earn Beast Crystals based on their ranking.

    Hammer sprite

    In June, players will encounter a new unit along with the A Powerful Blow season. Coming 13 June, players can anticipate the arrival of the Hammer Sprite, a new physical-type unit from the spirit faction. The Hammer Sprite possesses a special ability called Gold Appears, which boosts the attack power and attack speed of herself and the hero at the start of each wave. She is particularly effective at clearing waves quickly, making it recommended to place her near the front of the castle. The Derby Brawl – Hammer Sprite Mirror Match, featuring this new unit, will be available from 15 to 17 June.

    Special events – gems, crystals, and valentine’s fun

    1 Duo play event: Available until 27 June, this is an event where players complete missions by playing the two-player cooperative mode, duo mode. Depending on the completed missions, players can earn various rewards such as the mirage of the desert, harun palace castle skin, duo entries, gems, elixir, and featured summon tickets.

    2 Returning guardian missions: This event is designed for players who log into the game after a long absence, allowing them to complete missions to earn eternal hearts, which can be exchanged for rewards like miraculous summon tickets, legendary unit selections, and gold.

    Mumbai:  Skyesports, a premier global IP builder for gaming and esports, has announced the return of its longest-running esports IP, the Skyesports Championship, for its sixth edition in 2024. The Skyesports Championship 2024 Counter-Strike 2 esports tournament will feature a prize pool of $200,000, with teams from around the world travelling to India to compete for the title from July 23 to 28.

    India’s gaming market has rapidly grown to USD 3.1 billion in FY 2023, per a report by Statista. At a CAGR of 20 per cent, the gaming industry is among the fastest-growing segments in India’s media and entertainment industry and will be worth over USD 7.5 billion by FY 2028.

    Commenting on the exciting competition, Skyesports founder and CEO Shiva Nandy said, “At Skyesports, we are leveraging the rapid growth of gaming to build globally recognized esports IPs from India. The Skyesports Championship 2024 exemplifies this effort as we bring the top international esports teams from around the globe for an on-ground event. The tournament will be broadcast for global audiences right here from India.     So far, five of the eight teams have been confirmed for the Skyesports Championship 2024. This includes Aurora Gaming from Serbia, The Mongolz from Mongolia, BetBoom from Russia, Eternal Fire from Turkey, and Brazil’s Furia Esports.

    Additionally, one local team who will win the upcoming Skyesports Championship 2024 Counter-Strike 2 India Qualifier will get the chance to compete against the best of the world as the home team in the on-ground finale.

    Serbia’s Aurora Gaming won the Skyesports Grand Slam 2024 in Pune

    The Skyesports Championship 2024, with a prize pool of $200,000, is the third tournament in Skyesports’ Counter-Strike 2 esports roadmap. Earlier, the company successfully executed the Skyesports Grand Slam 2024 in Pune, India with a $50,000 prize pool and the Skyesports Masters 2024, which had a staggering $350,000 on the line.

    Skyesports project manager Sudarshan S commented, “India’s esports audience is rapidly growing and extremely passionate, yet we have seen limited international events on our home turf. At Skyesports, we are committed to changing this by not only bringing premier global tournaments to India but also ensuring significant local participation. Our goal is to foster a thriving and sustainable esports ecosystem that elevates the entire scene.”

    The Skyesports Championship is a multi-game esports IP launched in 2018 as a regional tournament in Chennai, India. Since then, the tournament has become one of the most recognized esports competitions with global participation. The IP has produced some iconic moments for Indian esports, starting with a 221,000 peak concurrent viewership in the 2021 edition. Additionally, the winners of the 2021 edition were felicitated in a grand award ceremony in Mumbai, India by cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar.

    Mumbai: SoulCity, S8UL’s GTA V arm, has partnered with Rooter and Indonesia GTA V Masters Championship (IGMC) to launch the premier edition of the Indian GTA V Rumble Invitational. The tournament is set to be a defining moment for the game in India, with a novel battle royale format conceptualized by Rooter.

    Designed to enhance competitiveness, the format will create opportunities for the teams to display their skills through decisive face-offs. Known for its continued support of new initiatives in the GTA V landscape, SoulCity hopes to drive this initiative to success.

    The tournament will be a platform for both veteran GTA V creators & talented new entrants to compete and make a mark in the country’s GTA V scene. It will see participation from 20 teams—10 invited and 10 qualified—who will compete on the GTA V map using the innovative ‘Battleground’ concept, all vying for a total prize pool of INR 2 lakh. The open qualifiers have been scheduled for May 17-19 and May 24-26, with the playoffs set for May 31st to 2nd June. The grand finals will take place from June 7-9.

    Since its inception, SoulCity has leveraged the expertise of S8UL to help grow the GTA V landscape in India. In addition to S8UL, industry veteran & SoulCity co-owner, Kumar Swetank plays a key role in executing the vision of SoulCity. With a proven track record in branding, marketing, distribution, and connections to top teams in the GTA V community, SoulCity will be pivotal in the success of this pioneering IP.

    Grand Theft Auto V has sold over 195 million copies worldwide since its 2013 launch, according to Statista. In December 2023, its user engagement reached 30.8 million monthly active users across PCs and consoles, following the release of its highly anticipated sequel.

    The exciting matches of the Indian GTA V Rumble Invitational will kick off at 6 PM, with four to six games each day. The first two matches will be streamed on both YouTube and Rooter, while the rest will be available exclusively on Rooter.

    Mumbai: S8UL Esports, one of India’s most coveted esports organisations, has booked a ticket to the Pokémon UNITE World Championship 2024 in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, where they will be competing against the best of the world for the title and a share of the $500,000 prize pool. The team will be the sole Indian representative at the event after winning the India Qualifier, hosted by Skyesports.

    The final stage of the Pokémon UNITE WCS2024 – India Qualifier, hosted by Skyesports, happened on 11 and 12 May with eight teams from the open qualifiers competing for a chance to represent the country on the international stage. Ultimately, S8UL Esports came out on top after a series of intense games, finishing ahead of the likes of Zenigame Squad and GodLike Esports. Besides the chance to compete in the World Championship in Hawaii, the team will receive $15,000 of the $37,500 prize pool.

Last year, we were able to take a game away from the eventual world champions, Luminosity Gaming, but we failed to secure the series. We hope they qualify so we can get our revenge this time.”

    Last year, S8UL Esports also managed to win the India qualifier and make it to the world championship. The team, however, were eliminated in the group stage itself. This time, they are going into the $500,000 World Championship, scheduled from Aug. 16 to 18, with a much more experienced roster.
