    Mumbai: The film publication biz is rife with rumours – about the stars and directors –  normally. Now it is the journos who write about the stars who are being gossiped about. Take the case of Anumpama Chopra – the founder of the evocative Film Companion (FC). The goss has been running riot that Chopra – a former India Today journo who set up the website and the wife of ace director Vidhu Vinod Chopra – is shutting down FC, which by the way has been putting up a healthy financial performance.

    Then why bring down the shutters on FC?

    Coz, Film Companion is giving way to US entertainment publication The Hollywood Reporter, with Chopra likely to helm the Indian edition, goes the strong canards. Chopra will apparently pocket a healthy trove of cash for exiting FC.

    The Hollywood Reporter is part of the Penske Media Corp which also boasts other titles such as Variety, Deadline Hollywood, Rolling Stone, Billboard etc. BollywoodLife is amongst its other flagship Indian titles, boasting more than 20 million unique visitors.

    No executive from Penske Media Corp which is owned by Jay Penske was available for comment or confirmation. How, Bollywoodlife.com, the Indian edition of The Hollywood Reporter will find a fit with each other was unclear at the time of writing, but observers believe that the former will continue to focus on the personal lives of actors while the latter will be trade and B2B-focused.

These placards will highlight the limitations of AI tools, emphasizing that AI can never replicate the emotional depth conveyed by a singer through their lyrics. Real artists can feel and express these emotions in a way that AI simply cannot.

    The rapid growth of the comedy scene as an alternative entertainment option sparked my interest. There was a noticeable absence of a dedicated portal for the comedy genre, despite my deep personal investment in pop culture. My prior experience at Viacom18, managing brands like Comedy Central, highlighted the need for a robust foundation in comedy. Legacy Media covers top names and controversial topics, but there’s a significant pool of unrecognized talent. Thus, I founded DeadAnt to chronicle comedy’s evolution.

    While others attempted one-off festivals, I envisioned a prestigious, evolving event serving as a discovery platform for emerging artists. The pandemic necessitated adjustments, delaying our plans for comprehensive curation and a diverse lineup that caters to all comedy enthusiasts, blending international and Indian comedy.

    Mumbai: Following a dramatic rise in the cult following of Peter Cat Recording Co, India’s ever-evolving genre-bending act is gearing up for one of the largest tours by an Indian band, as they announce 77 concerts with their third and latest album BETA. The band’s ‘Good Luck Beta’24’ run will kick off in August 2024, covering North America, Europe, UK and India. Paytm Insider, one of India’s leading entertainment experiences platforms, along with partners Pagal Haina & WMS Entertainment will bring the tour’s final leg to the country in December 2024.

    BETA from the band’s POV is “… a collection of stories about the future told 50 years in the past to make sense of the present, on our only home, planet Earth.” BETA’s origin story is quite heartwarming. While psychedelic, jazz, alt-rock, and other genres were novel in the country, PCRC’s vision to establish a contrasting musical identity has been rooted since its inception, despite being in the nascent stage. You might find a sly homage to great acts, however, their music has always had an antecedent mark. The Delhi-formed band comprises Suryakant Sawhney on vocals and guitars, Karan Singh on drums, Dhruv Bhola on bass and samples, Rohit Gupta on keys and trumpet and Kartik Sundareshan on guitars and trumpet.

    After the globe-trotting legs of the tour, PCRC will return to the heartland for the last leg of the tour, performing in Pune on 14 December followed by Goa on December 15, 2024. Mumbai will experience PCRC’s electrifying performance on 20 December 2024, at JVPD Ground. On 22 December 2024, they will perform in Delhi NCR, the band’s birthplace, at DLF Cyber Hub in Gurugram. For the finale phase of the India tour, the band will deliver a memorable performance in Bengaluru’s Jayamahal Palace on December 28, 2024, and at Roots in Kolkata on December 29, 2024.
