    HLL shuffles management, creates 2 autonomous divisions

    MUMBAI: FMCG major Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) has undergone a major reorganisation of management structure. The company which currently consists of five business units will be reorganised into two division namely – Home and Personal Care (HPC) and Foods and both will operate with considerable autonomy.
     
    HLL informed the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today that the HPC division will integrate the detergents and Personal Products businesses and will have a management committee with Arun Adhikari as its MD. Prior to this move, Adhikari was executive director of personal products at HLL. While the Foods division will integrate the beverages, foods, ice creams and confectionery businesses and will have a management committee with S Ravindranath as its MD who was executive director for beverages prior to the new appointment.

    The company also informed that the new ventures and non FMCG businesses comprising Plantations and Specialty Exports will continue to be headed by their respective heads.

    The company’s vice chairman M K Sharma has been given added responsibility after the restructuring. Sharma will now be handling HR, marketing services, corporate affairs, corporate communication, technology and legal and secretarial departments. Sharma, D Sundaram, Adhikari and Ravindranath as wholetime directors / managing directors of the company will constitute the National Management for HLL which will be chaired by Sharma.

    The FMCG major has also undergone some changes in the board and senior management. For one, the company’s chairman and wholetime director M S Banga consequent to his move as Business Group president – HPC Asia will cease to be a wholetime employee of the company with effect from 1 July, 2004 but will continue as a non executive director and chairman of the board.

    Apart from that, wholetime director and director – for detergents Aart C Weijburg has resigned from the board and will return to Unilever after over five years of service with HLL. In another strategic move, wholetime director and director – HR, technology and corporate affairs Gurdeep Singh has also resigned from the board consequent to his retirement. Last but not the least, Guneder Kapur (executive director – Foods) will now move to an international assignment within Unilever, the company informed.

  • HLL launches Sunsilk Naturals

    MUMBAI: Beauty hair brand Sunsilk has launched a complete new range of shampoos Sunsilk Naturals for different hair types. The all new range is set to revolutionise hair care in India with four variants.

    They are moisturising anti dandruff shampoo with lemon and curd extracts, Curl control shampoo with milk proteins, Silky strength shampoo with henna and lotus extracts and Black shine shampoo with amla and sunflower extracts.
     
    Hindustan Lever Limited’s (HLL) hair care head Mukul Deoras, said, “Based on consumer research and customer feedback we have invested in extensive R&D to bring across to the Indian consumer a complete new customized range. The new Sunsilk Naturals range is an exquisite mix of natural ingredients specially formulated for consumers who understand their hair and are looking for a shampoo, which is tailored to their needs. Also for the first time a high quality customized shampoo like the Curl control has been introduced in the Indian market at an affordable price.”

    An official release informs that the natural ingredients used have been extensively tested by the Hindustan Lever Research Centre and selected to suit Indian hair types. In addition, the entire look and feel of the range lends an international touch in terms of international quality packaging along with a trendy, vivacious look at the same market price.

    The new range is being rolled out in a phased manner across the country. The range is available in bottles and sachets.
