    Quint Digital Media Q1 consolidated revenue up 80%

    Mumbai: Quint Digital Media has published first quarter results for the period ended 30 June 2022. Quintype maintains strong growth in revenues; on a full year basis, revenues are likely to double over FY22.

    As against Rs 9.22 crore in Q1 FY22, QDML recorded its consolidated total operating revenues at Rs 16.60+ crore, up 80 per cent over the previous year.

    The consolidated losses witnessed a reduction of more than 35 per cent over the previous year. The transaction for the divestment of a 49 per cent stake in Quintillion Business Media is expected to be completed in Q2 FY23, which will lead to a further reduction in QBM’s losses attributable to QDML.

    SAAS-based media-tech company, Quintype Technologies India, witnessed a 150+ per cent increase in revenues, standing at Rs 4.35 crore as against Rs 1.71 crore in the previous fiscal. It’s on track to achieve operational break-even in FY23.

    The business news digital platform BQPRIME also continues the growth momentum; it recorded revenues of Rs 3.61 crore.

    The completion of the divestment of 49 percent of QBM and the raising of up to Rs 125 crore through a rights issue will provide the company with significant cash reserves and boost overall profitability.

    The audience footprint across the websites and digital platforms-including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Snapchat, etc. and continued its strong momentum in the quarter.

    Mumbai: Network18 Media & Investments on Tuesday announced its financial results for the quarter ended 30 June, 2022. The company reported that its consolidated revenue from operations rose to Rs 1,340 crore year-on-year, amidst a challenging macro environment. It has witnessed 10 percent growth. During the same period, the company posted a 67.52 per cent decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 39.46 crore.

    According to a regulatory filing, Network18’s net profit stood at Rs 121.51 crore during the April-June period a year ago. However, its total expenses were Rs 1,349.78 crore, up 24.88 percent from Rs 1,080.79 crore during the same period last year.

    Network18’s entertainment business revenues grew 13 per cent in Q1 FY23 despite its free-to-air Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) going off DD FreeDish.

    Digital News revenue continued to grow at a fast pace, said the report, but added that “TV News revenue was flat YoY despite multiple state elections in the base quarter.”

    TV18’s news channels established strong positions in key markets with CNBC TV18, CNN News18 ranked #2 and News18 India ranked #1, #2, and #3 (refer: source) in their genres, respectively.

    During the quarter, three dedicated sports broadcasting channels were launched by Viacom18- Sports18, Sports18 HD and Sports18 Khel.

    On digital media rights for IPL

    Viacom18 has acquired the non-exclusive rights to digitally streaming of 18 matches in every season of the Indian Premier League in the Indian sub-continent for the seasons starting from 2023 to 2027.

    “After announcing a deal with Bodhi Tree and Reliance, Viacom18 made a giant leap towards building a compelling digital consumer proposition by acquiring the Indian subcontinent exclusive digital rights of the Indian Premier League (IPL),” read the statement.

    Highlights for Q1 FY23:

    • Viacom18 has acquired the exclusive digital streaming rights of the Indian Premier League for the Indian sub-continent for the next five seasons (2023-2027) for Rs 23,757.5 crore. It also won the rights for three out of five international territories, which include major cricketing nations like South Africa, Australia, and the UK, for Rs 594.5 crore.
    • IPL is the highest-reaching sports property in the country and will provide a strong entry point for consumers to come to Viacom18’s digital platform. It will play a pivotal role in helping establish it as India’s leading digital media, entertainment, and sports destination.
    • With rights to a slew of diverse sports properties like football (FIFA World Cup, La Liga, Serie A, and Ligue1), basketball (NBA), badminton, and tennis already acquired, Viacom18 is building one of the largest sporting destinations in the country, offering a compelling proposition for both core and casual sports fans.
    • Viacom18, while continuing to strengthen its broadcasting vertical, is building a digital platform of the future to provide best-in-class products and user experience to the fast-growing Indian digital audience.     Mumbai: Sun TV Network has announced its fourth quarter and yearly results for the financial year ended 31 March 2022. The company reported consolidated revenues of Rs 3584.82 crore for the year up by 12.84 per cent as against Rs 3,176.89 crore for the corresponding year ended 31 March 2021. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (Ebitda) for the same period was higher by 10.43 per cent at Rs 2,287 crore as against Rs 2,017.38 crore for the previous year.

    The profit after tax (including shares from joint ventures) for the year stood at Rs 1641.91 crore up by 7.65 per cent.

    The advertising revenues of the company for the year stood at Rs 1300.60 crore as against Rs 994.03 crore up by 30.84 per cent year-on-year. Its subscription revenues for the year stood at Rs 1657.13 crore, as against Rs 1,721.48 crore for the previous year.

    For the fourth quarter, the company reported revenue of Rs 833.01 per cent crore up by 6.52 per cent year-on-year. Its profit after tax for the quarter stood at Rs 404.35 crore as against Rs 449.88 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

    The company’s advertising revenue for the quarter stood at Rs 337.13 crore up by 7.07 per cent. It reported subscription revenue of Rs 416.03 crore for the quarter as against Rs 428.12 crore for the corresponding quarter last year.

    Sun TV Network operates satellite television channels across six languages of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bangla and Marathi, airs FM radio stations across India and owns the SunRisers Hyderabad Cricket franchise of the Indian Premier League and the digital OTT platform SunNXT.

    Mumbai: NDTV Group’s television company NDTV Ltd has recorded revenue of Rs 65.3 crore profit of Rs 17.8 crore for the quarter ended 31 March. The media company reported revenue of Rs 262.13 crore profit of Rs 59.2 crore for the year 2021-2022.

    The annual consolidated profit for the group was Rs 79.7 crore. The group’s profit on core business, excluding gains on investments, has nearly doubled from Rs 38.5 crore to Rs 73.3 crore, according to the statement.

    The company’s digital arm NDTV Convergence has delivered its highest revenue and profit, said the statement. “Its position as the market leader for credible news has helped it consolidate its position as one of the country’s few profitable online content companies.”

    The group has in the year 2021-2022 cut its external liabilities (including borrowings) by Rs 106.4 crore.

    “NDTV thanks with much gratitude each member of its exceptional team for their commitment and contribution to strengthening the group’s financial position and to its focus on independent journalism,” said the company in a statement.

    Mumbai: Nxtdigital Ltd on Wednesday announced the results for financial year 2022. The media and communications company recorded revenue of Rs 1,152.19 crore for the year ending 31 March, registering a growth of 14.3 per cent year-on-year.

    The company clocked earnings before interest, depreciation, and taxes (EBIDTA) of Rs 256.22 crore registering a growth of 10.4 per cent YoY. The revenue and EBIDTA for the year include Rs 69.30 crore and Rs 43.88 crore, respectively, arising out of the ‘real estate’ segment of the company.

    The consolidated profit after tax for the year is Rs 1.91 crore as against a loss Rs 13.90 crore in the previous year.

    The company posted consolidated revenue of Rs 344.55 crore in the fourth quarter ended 31 March. It clocked an EBIDTA of Rs 100.41 crore.  Revenue and EBIDTA for the quarter include Rs 69.30 crore and Rs 43.88 crore respectively arising out of the ‘real estate’ segment of the company.

    The media and entertainment segment recorded an EBIDTA of Rs 56.53 crore for the quarter. The consolidated PAT for the quarter stood at Rs 84.46 crore. PAT for the quarter is inclusive of the profit from ‘real estate’ segment of the company.

    “We have remained singularly focused on the changing consumer preferences, in no small measure impacted by the lockdown periods; and have accelerated our digital transformation in line with the same,” said Nxtdigital managing director and CEO Vynsley Fernandes. “Our performance across all segments of our business reflects that mission.     Mumbai: Cinema exhibition chain PVR Ltd has announced its fourth quarter and financial year 2021-2022 results on Monday. The company reported consolidated revenue of Rs 579.7 crore and a loss of Rs 105.5 crore for the quarter ended 31 March. 

    PVR earned Rs 263.3 crore and reported a loss of Rs 289.2 crore for the corresponding quarter. After adjusting for the impact of IND-AS 116 – leases, consolidated revenue stood at Rs 553.6 crore and loss at Rs 95.6 crore in Q4 FY22.

    The company reported consolidated revenue of Rs 1657.1 crore and loss of Rs 488.5 crore for the financial year ended on 31 March 2022. In comparison, the company earned Rs 749.4 crore and made a loss of Rs 748.2 crore last financial year. After adjusting for the impact of IND-AS 116 – leases, the company reported consolidated revenue of Rs 1408.7 crore and a loss of Rs 419 crore for FY22.

    The last 35 days of the fourth quarter were marked with strong content flow across regional and Bollywood genres including films like “Valimai” (Tamil), “Bheemla Nayak” (Telugu), “Gangubai Kathiawadi” (Hindi), “The Kashmir Files” (Hindi) and “RRR” (multilingual) helped admissions cross the 90-lakh mark in March.

    “Similar to Q3 FY’22, the results of Q4 demonstrated the resilience and the ability of the theatrical business to quickly recover once new content was made available,” said the statement. “The short span of the third wave ensured that the rate of infection subsided as drastically as it had peaked. At the onset of the wave, all the states had imposed capacity restrictions on cinema operations. These restrictions were gradually relaxed and were done away with by the end of February.”

    The company had booked forex losses on loans extended to PVR Lanka in March, a subsidiary of PVR Ltd in Sri Lanka, due to the sudden devaluation of the local currency given the political and economic turmoil in the region.

    The company opened 15 screens across three properties in the fourth quarter and plans to open 120-125 new screens in FY 2023.

    The company’s total available liquidity, including undrawn working capital lines on the balance sheet, is in excess of Rs 667 crore at the end of the fourth quarter.

    “Our belief in the ability of the industry to bounce back swiftly was vindicated with this quarter’s results. 90+ lakh admissions in the month of March and a stellar content pipeline for the next few quarters tells us that the best is yet to come,” said PVR Ltd chairman cum managing director Ajay Bijli. “I strongly feel that this year can be the best year this industry has ever seen. We are doubling down on our investments and if everything goes as planned, this year we will break our own record of the maximum number of screens opened in a year in India.”

    “I am extremely positive about the impending merger with Inox which will give additional firepower to the combined entity to invest and innovate in bringing world-class theatrical viewing experience for our discerning audiences,” he added.

    Mumbai: Inox Leisure Ltd has announced the results for the financial year (FY) 2021-2022 as well as the fourth quarter (Q4) ended on 31 March. The company’s total revenues for the year stood at Rs 706 crore and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBIDTA) at Rs 87 crore. The company reported profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 164 crore.

    Inox reported advertising revenues of Rs 34 crore “indicating a revival in the preference for cinema advertising,” said the statement.

    The company added another 32 new screens during the financial year and plans to add another 16 properties with 77 screens in FY2. Inox operates 161 multiplexes with 681 screens across 72 cities.

    Inox Leisure reported that 23 million guests visited its cinema properties in FY22 and it recorded its highest ever average ticket price (ATP) of Rs 217 against Rs 170 in the previous financial year. The company also reported highest ever spends per head of Rs 91 up from Rs 77 in the previous FY.

    Inox reported revenues of Rs 325 crore in Q4 FY22 with EBIDTA at Rs 21 crore and PAT at Rs 12 crore. During the quarter exhibited blockbuster films such as “Valimai,” “Bheemla Nayak,” “Gangubai Kathiawadi,” “The Kashmir Files,” “Radhe Shyam,” and “RRR.” Its ATP for the quarter stood at Rs 218 and spends per head stood at Rs 86 whereas occupancy stood at 24 per cent. The company stated that 11 million guests visited Inox cinemas during the quarter. In March 2022, the company reported its highest ever box office and food and beverage (F&B) collection in a single month.

    During the quarter, the company launched a digital wallet called Inox InstaPay that enabled users to make ticket and F&B purchases in return for rewards. It also announced a merger with India’s leading cinema exhibition chain PVR.

    Mumbai: Hathway Cable and Datacom Ltd reported gross revenue of Rs 1,793 crore in FY22 an increase of four per cent over FY21. Its broadband revenue stood at Rs 621.9 crore while CATV revenue stood at Rs 1171.1 crore for the financial year. The company reported profit after tax of Rs 130.4 crore a decline of 49 per cent year-on-year.

    “The business model for the company was protected in spite of Covid-19 led movement restrictions and disrupted supply chains,” said the statement.

    In its fourth quarter results, the company saw gross revenues of Rs 448.8 crore, an increase of two per cent year-on-year. Broadband revenue for the quarter stood at 157.1 crore and CATV revenue at Rs 291.7 crore. It saw profit after tax of Rs 28.4 crore in the quarter, a 16 per cent decline quarter-on-quarter.

    CATV business highlights

    The company reported 5.4 million set-top-box connections and more than 109 cities and major towns. “In the last two years, the company has created an extensive incremental infrastructure for market share gain. We have connected over 250 new locations with IP links,” said the statement. “Our product/go-to-market strategy/infrastructure ready for taking benefit of a more conducive market and business scenario with pandemic becoming more manageable. Set top box procurement and market share gain plans being rolled out.”  

    It further added, “The casting of OTT apps through already seeded new generation HD boxes is being piloted. This unique feature can give access to OTT to millions of Hathway Cable TV customers without any need to buy an additional OTT box. We have also piloted TV Plug. Using this Hathway can provide the most reliable last mile cable TV connectivity from a mobile tower network.

    Hathway Cable has also launched a digital platform to enhance the competencies of partner local cable operators in the cable TV business.

    ISP business highlights

    The company’s subscription revenue stood at Rs 157.1 crore with an increase of 32K customers in Q4 FY22 led by strong FTTH customer acquisition. FTTH consumers now account for 70 per cent of overall ISP consumers. “The company saw subdued revenue growth on account of higher speed and unlimited data limits now available at lower ARPU plans at industry level,” said the statement.

    The company reported 1.11 million broadband subscribers at the end of the fourth quarter FY22.

    Mumbai: Cable TV distribution company Den Networks has released its financial results for the fourth quarter 2022 on Thursday. The company reported revenues of Rs 303 crore and profit after tax of Rs 49 crore higher than Q3’22 which was at Rs 44 core.

    The company reported revenue of Rs 1,226 crore for FY’22 less than it earned in FY’21 at 1,307 crore. Its profit after tax for the year stood at Rs 171 crore and the total cost for the year stood at Rs 1,022 crore.

    The company reported gross debt and healthy cash balances of Rs 2,547 crore for the quarter. It earned Rs 167 crore from subscriptions, Rs 93 crore from marketing income, Rs 26 crore from other operating income, and Rs 17 crore in activation revenues.

    The company also reported total costs of Rs 248 crore including content costs at Rs 148 crore, personnel costs at Rs 21 core, other operational expenses at Rs 79 crore, and Rs one crore provision for doubtful debts and advances.

    Den Networks operates a cable and broadband business. Its cable operations cover over 500+ cities/towns across 13 key states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Kerala, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand in India. Its broadband business is enabled across 41 cities/towns in the country.

    Mumbai: GTPL Hathway witnessed revenue growth (excluding EPC) of 12 per cent year-on-year (YoY) at Rs 24,154 million. The profit after tax grew by six per cent YoY at Rs 2,006 million, according to the company’s financial results for the year FY22 shared on Friday. 

    It ended the year by adding 400K cable TV subscriptions and 181K broadband subscribers.

    The company’s digital cable TV revenue increased marginally by 0.4 per cent to Rs 10,753 million. Total paying subscribers as of 31 March stood at 7.80 million. GTPL Hathway expanded cable TV operations in five additional states in FY22. It also launched a new product ‘GTPL Genie’ which is an Android TV-based hybrid set-top-box with attractive subscription bundles.

    The company’s broadband revenue growth for FY22 was 46 per cent to reach Rs 4,075 million. Total broadband subscribers increased by 29 per cent to reach 816K out of which 360K are FTTX subscribers. In FY212, the company added 830K home-pass. Home-pass as of 31 March stood at 4.70 million.

    GTPL Hathway Limited reported fourth-quarter revenues of Rs 6,209 million and profit after tax of Rs 552 million. Broadband revenue stood at Rs 1,098 million and digital cable TV revenue at Rs 2,695 million. The average revenue per user (ARPU) for Q4 FY22 stood at Rs 450.

    “We are proud to announce another year of consistent performance across all business segments,” said GTPL Hathway managing director Anirudhsinh Jadeja. “GTPL is now the largest MSO in the country, continues to be the largest MSO and broadband player in Gujarat, and has a significant presence in all other markets.”
