Mumbai: Nine Yards, a women’s communication consultancy, is passionate about weaving a refreshing woman’s perspective into their design thinking and brand communication. Their very own IP “She Matters” populated women’s content and stories through various channels.
As a deep dive into the women’s narrative, Nine Yards has launched its first art show under “She Matters”. At this art showcase, Dattani and Iyer put brush to canvas to take you deeper into the emotional, mental and cultural landscape of today’s Indian woman. Dipping into their rich experience as artists and design experts, Dattani and Iyer conjure stories through colour, texture and form. These visually rich stories are a glimpse into their nuanced and insightful understanding of this space. Every story is a journey of conflict between the way ‘She’ is viewed through the lens of tradition, stereotypes and societal influences, and how ‘She’ really views herself.
Dattani said, “Through the language of art, we want to tell stories that matter. Stories that reach out and resonate with women across various stages of life, cultural codes and traditional landscapes. Through each canvas, we aim to challenge the stereotypical and one-dimensional way that women are still viewed in our society.
Iyer further added, “Art can be a valuable tool that can catalyse change in society and start a conversation on a plethora of topics that remain untouched. With She Matters, we want every gender to introspect their relationship with culture, community and the role women play in society.”
Dattani and Iyer’s work nudges the viewer to acknowledge, accept and celebrate how each woman’s story eventually influences and impacts the story of our nation.
