Elon Musk to bring in new CEO for Twitter

Mumbai: Elon Musk has selected the CEO of Twitter, he said in a tweet on 11 May. Without mentioning the name of the person, he said that she will be starting in about six weeks. The Tesla billionaire mentioned that his role will transition to Twitter’s executive chairman and chief technology officer.

Ever since Musk took over the social media platform in October 2022 for $44 billion, there has been a series of hirings and firings happening there. Musk fired the previous CEO, Parag Agrawal, and took over as the CEO. In a Twitter poll conducted by Musk in December 2022, 57.5 per cent users voted for him to step down as CEO. He revealed that he would step aside once he found “someone foolish enough to take the job”.

As per a Wall Street Journal report, it could be the head of advertising of NBC Universal Linda Yaccarino. Yaccarino has been with NBC Universal since 2011. Currently, she is the chairperson of global advertising and partnerships. She has also worked in the company’s cable entertainment and digital advertising sales division. Prior to NBC, she has worked for 19 years at Turner in various executive roles.
