Mumbai: Elon Musk has put speculations to rest by announcing Linda Yaccarino as Twitter’s new CEO. This announcement comes within a few hours of him revealing that he has selected a new CEO for the social media platform.
The Tesla billionaire further went on to add that Yaccarino will focus primarily on business operations, while he would focus on product design and new technology. He also mentioned that he is looking forward to working with Yaccarino to transform the platform into X, the everything app.
In her previous role, Yaccarino was the head of advertising of NBC Universal. Yaccarino had been with NBC Universal since 2011. In her most recent role, she was the chairperson of global advertising and partnerships. She has also worked in the company’s cable entertainment and digital advertising sales division. Prior to NBC, she has worked for 19 years at Turner in various executive roles.
Ever since Musk took over the social media platform in October 2022 for $44 billion, there has been a series of hirings and firings happening there. Musk fired the previous CEO, Parag Agrawal, and took over as the CEO. In a Twitter poll conducted by Musk in December 2022, 57.5 per cent users voted for him to step down as CEO. He revealed that he would step aside once he found “someone foolish enough to take the job”.
