Mumbai: With another weekend upon us, it is time to unwind with the latest Q&A edition of Indiantelevision.com’s Weekend Unwind-a series of informal chats that peek into the minds of business executives through a fun lens in an attempt to get to know the person behind the title a little better.
In this week’s session, we have Porter VP – customer growth & engagement Mohit Rathi.
With an experience of over a decade in the industry, Rathi currently heads the strategic growth and marketing division for the company with his expertise ranging across boosting businesses and technology leadership.
At Porter, Mohit started as an expansion manager and led the launch in Hyderabad and Chennai – later he became the city head for Chennai. Gradually he shifted to Central Demand Function where he focused on enhancing the customer lifecycle. In 2021, he became the AVP – growth & marketing at Porter where his role was focused on growth, and marketing with regard to demand, supply, and other businesses. Under his leadership, Porter has recently undergone a brand refresh with the launch of a new logo.
Prior to his current role, he served as a consultant for Samsung.
Mohit has pursued his bachelor’s with a dual degree programme from BITS Pilani in Biological Sciences and Electrical Engineering. He also holds an MBA from SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR). During his tenure at Porter, he has undertaken various reforge courses and has undergone a leadership programme from ISB.
While away from work, he enjoys listening to various podcasts such as The Knowledge Project, Metrics Movements & Business Wars, and indulges in cooking.

Currently, I am reading two books: “22 Immutable Laws of Marketing” authored by Ai Ries and Jack Trout, and “The CEO Factory.” authored by Sudhir Sitapati
. Your fitness mantra, especially during the pandemic
During the pandemic, my fitness mantra was hitting 8000+ steps daily. I follow it even today. It keeps me healthy, keeps my immune system in check, and keeps me going.
. Your comfort food
My go-to comfort food is definitely Dal Chawal. It’s a simple yet heartwarming dish that always brings me a sense of comfort and happiness.
. A quote or philosophy that keeps you going when the chips are down
‘A ship in the harbor may be safe, but that’s not its purpose’.
In the face of adversity, I always remind myself to embrace risks and explore uncharted waters. That is where I believe one can always find their true purpose and a way ahead.
. Your guilty pleasure
Without a doubt, the combination of my all-time favorite movies along with a plate full of delicious food. The best combination for the heart.
. When was the last time you tried something new
Recently, I went to Dubai Atlantis Aquaventure and enjoyed my first-ever water park experience. That day was definitely full of fun and joy! One of the memory books.
. A life lesson you learned the hard way
Initially, I believed that having a well-thought-out plan and a perfect strategy would guarantee success. However, I quickly realised that without effective execution, even the best strategies can fall flat. It’s crucial to take action and implement plans with dedication and perseverance.
. What gets you excited about life
I absolutely enjoy learning something new each time. It can be something new, related to my work, or something as small as a hobby or a skill. I like to feed my curiosity and I thrive when I know with a new competency, I have paved the way for a new and fresh perspective. Podcasts are a great way for me to listen & learn new things.
. What’s on top of your bucket list
While I have a few, it would be an absolute honor to meet Ratan Tata. It would be a moment I would cherish forever. One day, hopefully.
. If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be
Explore more.
Embrace new opportunities. Step out of your comfort zone and discover the light in unfamiliar experiences.
. One thing you would most like to change about the world
Definitely less food wastage! It’s upsetting to see so much food going to waste while people go hungry.
. An activity that keeps you motivated/charged during challenging times
Walking is my secret weapon during tough times! It clears my mind, reduces stress, and gives me a fresh perspective. I find with a clear mind, my energy thrives. It’s a simple activity that boosts my mood and resilience, making obstacles a piece of cake to conquer!
. What lifts your spirits when life gets you down
I am grateful to have a strong support system in my friends and family. Whenever there is something that is hard for me, I know with their help and love, I will always bounce back into action. It’s very important for all of us, to surround ourselves with the best people, one’s who have our back in good and bad times.
. Your go-to stress buster
Watching The Big Bang Theory! Sheldon Cooper and his science jokes work like magic to keep my stress away. It’s my go-to laughter therapy!
