So without further ado, here it goes…

1. Your Mantra for Life

Actually, I have many mantras. On the top of this list and how I start my day is the Gayatri & the Mahamritunjya Mantras. These help me better align and ground myself as I begin each day. Besides this as a daily practice, one will often find me saying: “If it has to be done, it has to be done” & “Never say Never”. This is because I believe there is no backing down when it comes to certain tasks, projects, etc. and one must take ownership of their work.

2. A Book you are currently reading?

People Powered: How Communities Can Supercharge Your Business, Brand, and Teams by J Bacon

3. Your Fitness mantra, especially during the pandemic?

At the start of the pandemic, I was just recovering from a sports injury. So the pandemic gave me plenty of time to gradually build my strength in the affected muscle groups. For the first few months, I was mostly running indoors and doing some strength workouts. And then as the restrictions eased, I took to cycling. With the roads being mostly empty, cycling became such a pleasant indulgence and I landed up cycling for 2-3 hours every day.

For me, being fit has always been about being mentally aligned and focused on a goal. I am glad I took the time during the pandemic as a golden opportunity to meditate (more often) and get back to the drawing board to better align my purpose and goals and the company. In hindsight, it has made me a more resilient individual today.

4. Your comfort food?

Rajma Chawal

5. When the chips are down a quote/ philosophy that keeps you going?

“If it is meant to be, it will work out”

“Everything happens for the best”

My philosophy is that if something NEW is starting or if something existing is coming to an END, then it is all for the best. Have faith. This has helped me focus my energies on the positive, embrace change and stay focused.

It also brings back a time when a few times we had to shut down the business; reminding ourselves to stay positive and keep our passion and belief intact helped us as we waited for better times to come. The NEW should be accepted auspiciously. Looking back, most of us will agree that life has a plan and most things happen for the best.

6. Your guilty pleasure?

Ordering in food. I follow a certain dietary pattern… but sometimes this is where I experience guilty indulges.

7. When was the last time you tried something new?

This last holiday our 14-year-old had us try a virtual reality escape room! Technology is only becoming a bigger component of our lives.

8. A Life lesson you learnt the hard way?

Give time (in the present) to the people who exist in your life.

9. What gets you excited about life?

We have a team of 350+ in Atmantan. I am always excited at the thought of new and emerging talent coming on board. Indians are a talented lot and the majority of us here have high competency. So aligning the younger force with the institutional goals and working with a diverse team is something I enjoy at work. I am more of a “God is in the details” kind of person. So I relish the hands-on approach I have at Atmantan.

10. What’s on top of your bucket list?

Taking a week off to be in complete silence, while on a water fasting be stay immersed in Vedic teachings & meditation.

11. If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?

Read more! I got back to reading books during the pandemic. And I regret not reading more during the early work years.

12. One thing you would most like to change about the world?

We are all part of a larger ecosystem… however, many of us choose to live with a myopic standpoint and this means we only worry about ourselves and don’t care or give heed to anything or anyone else. I wish everyone would be more mindful of other humans, of the city, and the planet’s natural resources.

13. An activity that keeps you motivated/charged during tough times?

Meditating and Working out!

14. What lifts your spirits when life gets you down?

Great conversations.

15. Your go-to stress buster?

Spending time with my son! This is the ultimate downtime for me and on the plus side, I always end up with some very valuable insights from him.
