Celebrate The Genius of A R Raham Exclusive on Worldspace

Unravel the mysteries of the intrepid star as he shares his experiences in an exclusive chat on Radio Spandana, Worldzone and KL Radio

New Delhi, August 4, 2006: WORLDSPACE Satellite Radio presents, brand ambassador A R Rahman, the man who redefined contemporary Indian music and an idol for millions all over the world, in a special programming event that gives you an insight into the genius. Tune in to find more about his life, work, his influences, and his religion – ‘music’, as RJ Chaitanya Hegde has
an exclusive t?te-?-t?te with the dedicated music director. The interview will feature on Worldzone, 24-hour International Pop station on the WORLDSPACE network.

Rahman talks about his journey from Allah Rakha Khan to A R Rahman, his passion for music from childhood, and even confronts the fact that his not being on the screen has made media call him ‘elusive’. He sheds light on his love for solitude and creating music at late hours, which are probably a result of his ad-jingle days of yore. Rahman also shares his insights on how the sounds of nature and the rhythms of day-to-day lives inspired the recently launched WORLDSPACE signature tune.

Rahman entered the Indian music scene with his first film Roja, which was a massive, hit, and he followed it up with a number of other extremely popular films, including Bombay, Rangeela, Dil Se and Taal. Vande Mataram, his first pop album is the first to showcase him as a singer and his ambition to place
his sound track on the world music

stage. From the first strains of ‘Dil hai chota sa’, in Roja (1992) to the latest hit, ‘Khalbali hai khalbali’ from Rang de Basanti, Rahman’s
composition, still has the same appeal, uniqueness and meaning that make him the best music director of the tinsel town.
