DishTV brings EuroNews to India

MUMBAI: One of the prominent European news channels EuroNews has come to India on Essel Group’s DTH offering DishTV. The channel will be formally launched on 3 May (Tuesday).

DishTV vice president marketing Anjali Malhotra Nanda told indiantelevision.com that EuroNews had been available on DishTV since January this year. “Now we have scheduled the formal launch of the channel,” she says.

More than 200,000 subscribers of DTH carrier DishTV will have access to the multi-lingual channel that will beam news bulletins simultaneously in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

EuroNews will be part of DishTV’s Dish News package which is priced at Rs 66 a month.

Dish News has a bouquet of eight news channels. The latest entrant in the combine is Living Asia from Philippines. Though the channel is yet to be launched in India officially, it has been made available to the Dish News customers as a complimentary offer since March 2005. A senior executive from DishTV says the company is currently testing waters before finalising the deal.

Living Asia Channel is a 24-hour English language channel specifically targeting second and third generation Filipinos, other Asians, and North American audiences interested in Asian travel and lifestyles.
