UTV to produce six movies in Tamil and Telugu

MUMBAI: UTV Motion Pictures has lined up four Tamil and two Telugu films.

The production house is set to release Poi Solla Poram, a Tamil remake of Khosla Ka Ghosla, on 12 September with approximately 54 prints across Tamil Nadu region.

Directed by Vijay Anand, Poi Solla Poram is a Tamil co-production with Four Frames and will be presented by Priyadarshan.

“The best and most original stories are told in the South. We plan to collaborate with key talent in the South market and build a slate of great movies in the next few years,” says UTV Rampage Motion Pictures founder and CCO Ram Mirchandani.

Says Priyadarshan, “Poi Solla Porom is a well scripted and executed film that is sure to stand out in the crowd.”

In an attempt to promote the film, UTV has partnered with galatta.com for online promotions and as media partners it has amalgamated with Out-Of-Home media. Also, UTV has walked into a co-sponsorship deal with Kalinagar TV during Vinayaka Chathurthi for the promotions of the film.

Additionally, UTV has roped in actors Vikram and Suriya from the Tamil industry for its forthcoming films. While Suriya will be directed in their next action venture film titled Mugammoodi, the film with Vikram will go on floors in May 2009.

UTV will also be producing a trilingual venture (Tamil, Telugu, Hindi) titled Lost in Chennai, starring Darsheel Safary.

In Telugu, UTV has associated with actor Mahesh Babu and director Gautham Menon for a film that will start shoot in January 2009.
