International film festival for documentary begins in Guwahati

MUMBAI: The international film festival for documentary, short and animation films, has started at Guwahati in Assam.


Organised by Films Division under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in collaboration with Assam State Film (Finance and Development) Corporation Ltd, the three-day festival was inaugurated by the Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi on 17 October.



Apart from India, the film fest will showcase film-works from countries like Poland, Belgium, Bulgaria and Australia. The package for screening also has creative works of Satyajit Ray, Gulzar, Bhupen Hazarika, Ashis Mukherjee, Vinod Chopra, Jabbar Patel and Chaaru Kamal Hazarika, among others.



The lineup includes 14 award-winning films from Mumbai international film festival for documentary, short and animation films. It also has 12 films on Assam made by the Films Division. Also, 23 other best films under the documentary and animation sections from the archive of Films Division will be screened.
