MUMBAI: Star News, the Hindi news channel, has launched its Bihar focused election property- Kaun Banega Mukhyamantri- Bihar.
The property- Kaun Banega… was launched by the channel seven years back, in 2003. The channel claims that with every election, it has grown bigger and more popular amongst the audiences.
The elections commission has announced the elections’ dates for the Bihar Assembly. The poll for 243 member Bihar legislative assembly will be held in six phases, beginning from 21 October while counting of votes is scheduled on 24 November.
For its election coverage in Bihar, Star News will have segments like Kahiye Netaji – a city specific debate where politicians of the city answer back to the questions of the people of the city; Travelogue an anchor’s tour to the polling cities and articulate the voice of the people.
Other programmes under the property are opinion poll and exit polls, in collaboration with Nielsen. Star News’ anchors Deepak Chourasia, Kishore Ajwani and Siddhartha Sharma will hold the command of the election coverage.
Star News said in a release that audience prefer this channel in election coverage over any other news channel. It cited example of previous state elections in 2008, where it said that it captured 23 per cent market share leaving behind other Hindi news channels (Source: TAM, CS 15+, 8th Dec’08 -Vote Counting Day).
